On tap at the brewery: Dark brown color with ruby highlights and a typical tan, creamy nitro head. The aroma was very roasty and smoky. The flavor was sweeter than I expected...chocolate, roasted coffee. The feel was pretty flat (nitro, ya know) and slightly thinner than expected.

PorterPounder (7965) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - SEP 12, 2005
On tap at the brewpub in downtown San Francisco. Tar black pour with a generous and long lasting creamy off white head and thick lacing. Aroma is pleasant, pick up some fresh lake water notes with a hint of chocolate. Very good roastiness in the flavor, with some bittersweet chocolate and coffee making prominent appearances. High lacticity makes for a very creamy and delectable mouthfeel. Very good brewpub stout.

SledgeJr (3577) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - APR 5, 2006
On tap at the brewpub. Black with a dark tan head. A fantastic head it is: cascading nitrogen-induced tiny bubbles falling down. The strong aroma is of coffee and molasses. This beer has an interesting milky sourness for a dry stout. Finish gives you a strong reminder flavor of the gypsum that is in it. Delicious!

lb4lb (2587) - Austin, Texas, USA - JUL 23, 2007
Malty chocolate coffee smell, with a rich black color and light brown head to the bear and thick lacing. Taste is similar to the smell, with a hint of caramel. Some bitterness, but very drinkable, creamy and a bit dry in the finish, but not too much so.

Delirium (669) - Falmouth, Cornwall, ENGLAND - SEP 18, 2007
Draught at the brewpub. Pours dark brown / black with a moderate tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, some dark fruits, and hint of chocolate. Flavor is a robust malty stout, with a lot of roast and a bit of sweetness. A little bit of bitterness, and a creamy, full mouthfeel; not particularly dry imo. Quite good, though.
