Draught at the brewpub. Dark black with small brownish head. Heavy espresso aroma and flavour. Dryish with dense mouthfeel, There’s plenty of coffee, licorice and tar all th eway through to the salty, bitter finish. Perhaps not much finesse, but it sure packs a heavy punch of flavours. Near black with a nice head. The aroma has a fat roasty tang and light chocolate. The flavour is mainly the same. Pretty straightforward example, with a bit of brashness but this is not trying to win the Imperial Stout World Championships I don’t think. pivo (2689) - GERMANY - JUN 2, 2007
Coffe note in the nose, opaque black, creamy frothy head. Sweet for a brief second at the beginning--like dark chocolate. Then turning to a burnt charcoal taste. Creamy texture. Maybe too roasted, but fun anyway. GeneralGao (3614) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - NOV 21, 2008
Draft at the brewpub. Poured an opaque black color with a light brown head. Tobacco, leather, and roasted nuts graced the aroma. Medium bodied with lots of roast and light lingering bitterness. I also tasted nuts and dark chocolate and occasionally some subdued mint. rayOfBeer (680) - El Cerrito, California, USA - DEC 3, 2008
Poured from tap at brewpub a black with medium small tan head. Aroma is light roast coffee and chocolate. Flavor has a bit of roast grain, coffee, chocolate and a creamy milkiness. The palate has a light smooth bitterness but finishes a touch watery. I thought this beer was good not great.

Slightly pulpy, cardboardy malty roasty aroma. Rich, roasty malt body, a little patenty for my tastes, but nice overall. Surprisingly sweet finish.
