Cask at the 2nd Annual Winking Lizard Real Ale Fest on 3/27/10. Dark brown pour with a thin beige head. Banana-ish Belgian yeast nose with some roasty chocolate and cherries (but not black cherries; sweeter cherries like what are in cherry pie filling). Flavor is heavier on the cherry pie filling and chocolate. They help to dumb down the banana character, which only shows up in the finish. Pretty tasty. Cask version at Winking Lizard’s 2nd Annual Real Ale Fest (03/27/10): Pours black with a medium thick light beige head with large bubbles. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, yeast and coffee. Full body with flavors of dark malt, coffee and yeast. There is a little black cherry in there as well that took me awhile to pick up. The finish is malty with a dark fruit aftertaste. An interesting blend overall, but does not really improve on the original beer.
