Mahogany colored pour with a small khaki head. The nose is quite spicy with tons of all spice, clove, and nutmeg notes. A nice sweetness of vanilla, bourbon, and caramel. A hint of gingerbread, too. Tastes like bourbon and gingerbread. A bit of all spice and nutmeg, some sweet toffee, caramel, and vanilla, too. A touch of alcohol and oak, a little bit of candied dark fruit, too. djd07 (15264) - Houston, Texas, USA - MAR 9, 2015
Magnum bottle during RBWG Grand Tasting. Pours a copper with medium off white head that lasts. The aroma is spice and oak. Medium mouth, strong oak, spice, boozy finish, good. Tmoney99 (14747) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - OCT 29, 2011
Tap sample at CBW 2011. Poured hazy light brown color with an average creamy light brown head that lasted with good lacing. Good complex bourbon, ginger and spice aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy complex bourbon spicy flavor with a medium to heavy spice sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Complex standout brew for style. Dogbrick (13389) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JUL 24, 2011
Sample at The Pub during Christmas In July as part of Ohio Brew Week. The beer pours a slightly hazed reddish-amber color with a thin and dense light beige head that diminishes steadily. Thin rings of lacing. Aroma of bourbon, malt and sweet spices. Full-bodied and smooth with flavors of cinnamon, bready malt, ginger and bourbon. The finish is boozy with a malty and spicy aftertaste. Above average overall. hopdog (12816) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 30, 2013
1 liter, over priced ($50) bottle. Deep brown with an off white head. Honey, spices, very light barrel aging noticed, and vanilla. Very drinkable for 10% and this one actually was better than I would have thought going in.

Bottle. Poured hazy ruddy muddy brown with minimal tan head. Nose was earthy malt, X-mas spice, oak, figgy fruit. Tasted fruity, earthy, oaky and woody, with nutmeg, cinnamon, and notes of brown sugar, figs, and a fruity finish. BVery (10711) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - FEB 19, 2013
UPDATED: DEC 29, 2013 Tap at Brew Kettle. Awesome! Cinnamon, bourbon, sweet caramel, and a bit of chili heat. This is so good! alexsdad06 (10580) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - MAR 30, 2012
Sample from 1.5 L bottle @ Jungle Jim’s Barrel Aged Beer fest. Pours a clear dark amber with a small, thick beige head that disappears quickly. The nose is caramel, honey, ginger and other spice and boozy bourbon. The flavor has more big Christmas spice, caramel, vanilla, bourbon and booze. This was a little too hot and I would never buy it in the large bottle format, but worth trying once (more if on tap). phaleslu (10454) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUL 25, 2015
Draft at HalfCut, served in a flight. I was surprised I’d never had this before, or maybe I have and just never rated it. In any case, it pours a cloudy amber color with a small off-white head that leaves streaks of lace in the glass while settling into a ring and wispy film. Notes of vanilla, nutmeg, ginger, brown sugar, caramel, honey, oak, and leaves. Light-medium bodied - seemingly a little thinned from the barrel aging - with a smooth, sweet, spicy mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Good, and pretty much on par with how much I like the base beer. DrSilverworm (9671) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - DEC 18, 2012
Sample from a 2011 magnum, towards the end of a big bottleshare. Mildly hazy amber brown color. Minimal off-white head. Awesome bourbon aroma, works wonderfully with the winter spice aromas (cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg). Good honey and maple syrup notes. Bigger body, good dry texture, lighter carbonation. Great beer. Yes. Tastes like Christmas.
