Two snifters today at the tasting room. Pours a dark black primer with a puffy tan head that lasts. Aroma is big chocolate notes, roasted malts, some toasted nuts, slight vanilla, and some barrel. Taste is moderate dark chocolate, cocoa nibs, some heavy cream and marshmallow, bourbon oak barrel, toasted malts. Medium bidy and carb. Really flavorful without being overly sweet or sticky. Very good. Dogbrick (13789) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - SEP 28, 2015
Sample at the taproom. Pours a dark brown color with a medium tan head that diminishes steadily to a film. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of bourbon, malt and coffee. Full-bodied with an oaky bourbon character and notes of roast malt and coffee. The finish is mildly boozy with a malt and bourbon aftertaste. Good beer all around. beeratarian (237) - cleveland, Ohio, USA - AUG 27, 2015
Pours a hazy, dark brown with tight beige head. Aroma of vanilla and caramel some chocolate. Flavor is caramel and vanilla with a smooth mouthfeel. Bourbon doesn’t come off boozy, nice. Overall very drinkable and balanced. Tmoney99 (14983) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUL 16, 2015
Draft. Poured clear dark brown color with an average to large frothy brown head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted dark malt, vanilla and bourbon alcohol aroma. Full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy dark roasted coffee sweet bourbon flavor with medium to heavy complex sweet finish of long duration. Draft to taster at Dutch’s. Pours a dark cola brown color with a small, creamy beige head. The aroma had some roast and bourbon. The flavor has roasted malt, dark chocolate, dark fruit, bourbon, vanilla, some wood, the bourbon works well with the base beer. Solid. DrSilverworm (9672) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUN 26, 2015
On tap at Dutch’s. Keg is labeled as "Bourbon Barrel Aged Russian Imperial Porter 10.5%". Totally hazy brown color. Nice half finger thin brown tan head. Some bits of lace. Some very nice dark chocolate, fudge, rich chocolate cake. Wonderful. Some coffee. Vanilla, mild spiciness, mild touch of oak. Mild to moderate roast, touch of dark fruit. Very nice big body, wonderful thicker chewier texture, lightly slick, then dry in the finish. Moderate to bigger sweet taste, moderate bitter. Mild touch of warmth. Pretty damn nice. This poured a very dark brown to black with a tan head. Aroma was big barrel roasted malt, and sweet chocolate. Flavor was sweet and boozy, but not enough to detract from the experience, well rounded, bog and tasty.
