This beer is made with one grain and 4 Belgian yeasts, a deceptive golden color, and a malty palate lend complexity to this Belgian Trippel Ale. ABV = 10%, IBU’s = 31, OG = 23.1 P

The three headed Hellhound of Greek Mythology, that stood at the gates to Hades, lends his name and three heads to this elegant, full bodied Belgian Style Trippel Ale. A deceptive golden color and wonderful malty palate bring bold complexity to this big brew.

Bottle courtesy of falco242. No real Belgian notes in the nose. Murky dark gold with particalia. Rich aroma with a hint of molasses. Quite sweet, with burnt caramel flavors. Sweetness is not Belgian candidate sugar. Very good. Unique take on the style almost an American take on it.

Rated on 5-02-2011 (Bottle) This beer has a small white head that fully diminshes, slightly hazy golden body, fizzy carbonation, floaties, and spotty amounts of lacing. The aroma is caramel malt, fruity and citrus. The taste is sweet, malty, fruity, spicy, and some hops. The mouthfeel is mildly lively and this beer is medium bodied. This is a big sipping beer as the ABV comes through in the flavor and in a good way. There are better beers of this style, but this is still worth trying.

12 ounce bottle into chalice, no bottle dating. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy orange amber color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big apricot, peach, pear, apple, orange peel, honey, candi sugar, bread, clove, light pepper, herbal, floral, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast and malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big apricot, peach, pear, apple, orange peel, honey, bread, candi sugar, clove, herbal, floral, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of apricot, peach, pear, apple, orange, honey, bread, candi sugar, clove, herbal, floral, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity of fruity/earthy yeast and pale malt flavors; with a great malt/yeast flavor balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a smooth and moderately slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent tripel style! All around great complexity and balance of fruity/earthy yeast ester and malt flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Pours cloudy orange with a small beige head, creamy with nice lacing. Aroma is sweet oranges, yeast, biscuit, floral notes, caramel. Flavor is the same, quite sweet, floral, bit of orange zest bitterness, some herbal notes, lingering bitter finish. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel.

Bottle thanks to artmcd8, thanks! Pours a hazy dark orange with a thin head, aroma is solid, good amount of sweetness and fruit like with a little bit of the Belgian yeast coming through, the flavor has a fruity front end with a sweeter finish, the booze is tasted a little in the finish with some warming, full mouthfeel, not watery by any means, not a huge fan of the style overall, but this is solid and enjoyable, nice.

Nice. Pours orange with decent head and lacing. Coriander, booze, nice balance. Good balance and good tripel if nothing super exciting. Bottle.

sudomorph (1181) - Barrie, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 21, 2013
355ml bottle. Pours a brilliant, opaque orange with a half-finger head that thins quickly. Very slight sediment floating around. Aroma is a big ball or orange mixed with some farmhouse funk, alcohol, and candy sugar. Taste is a sweet but not sickening with a moderate alcohol warmth and a bit of funk on the finish. Medium body with a low-medium carbonation. Moderately slick and coating in the mouth with a drawn out sugary/bitter aftertaste. Overall this is exactly what it says it is. Belgian Style Tripel. Fairly strong alcohol warmth but with a lighter, more citrusy taste mixed in. Good show. I might get again to re-try next time I can.

Hopswagger (199) - South Carolina, USA - SEP 15, 2013
P: A cloudy speckled bright apricot color with little to no head development. Only a few big bubbles around the edge. S: Pumpernickel bread, tropical fruits, clove, cardamom, coriander, toasted caramel, sugar malt, banana taffy, yikes stripes fruit striped gum, sweet booze and cinnamon. T/M: A malted bomb exploded in my mouth. Sweet with floral perfume presence. Sweet candied sugar, toasted caramel, loads of tropical fruit followed up with a white wine similarity. Once swallowed the sweet malt is overtaken by the spices and lingering of rum. Chewy body with moderate carbonation. Finishes dry and chalky. O: This is truly a three headed monster. Sweet succulent malts, fruits, spices, yeasty bread and booze. What more could you ask for in a tripel. This really surprised me. I figured it would be decent but this surpassed my expectations and in glad I grabbed this up. This is a definite need to try.

Pours hazy orange amber with a slight creamy beige head. Aromas of fruit and yeast spice. Med body. flavor is yeasty and fruity. There’s banana for sure. It’s very tasty. Dry and spicey finish. Hardly a trace of heat.

mansquito (6815) - Nueva York, New York, USA - AUG 31, 2013
Big Top Beverage Mart, Rosyln variety case: Cloudy golden orange with a little head. Aroma is a bit malty, somewhat fruity. Taste is really sharp and a little bit too boozy. Aftertaste is a little too hard as well. I really don’t like this. I had some yesterday and some more today, and it did not get any better.
