Draught at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Clear amber, small head. Rich grapefruit aroma. Dry, crisp and fairly light bodied, crystal malt is evident. Long bitter finish. A hop driven beer that doesn’t go overboard. bhensonb (15837) - Woodland, California, USA - OCT 4, 2010
Bottle from Half Time. Pours light copper with 2 finger coarsely foamy off-white head. Moderate floral/pine aromas. Medum body; frothy carbonation. Flavor is a fair amount of resin hop over some mildly roasted caramel. Note: Their hoppiest beer? Anyway, it goes floral/perfume towards the finish. Pleasant. Lots of hop flavor, but the NW gonzo guys won’t buy this one. Really good though. Rated as an amber this is really flavorful. Rated generally, it’s good, but .....

Bottle sample at a tasting at kerenmk’s place. Thanks kerenmk. Almost clear copper-amber. Aroma of malt, some caramel and floral and slightly citric hops, a bit stale. Flavor has some sweetish maltiness, slightly caramelly, and nice bitter floral and grapefruity hops. Medium-bodied, a bit over-carbonated. A bit past its prime but still quite pleasant. Bottle. Non-standar amber ale. Dark amber color with a tan head. AAroma was more complex hops and sweet malt. Flavor was medium with good balance of malt and hops with medium finish. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - FEB 7, 2006
(12oz bottle) Small off-white head atop a crystal clear amber body. Aroma is moderately sweet, pine/pineapple. Taste is medium sweet, pine/pineapple, some caramel. Watery light-medium body, quite drinkable. Pretty straightforward, seems more like an APA, but tasty nonetheless. Drake (14078) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 31, 2007
UPDATED: OCT 20, 2008 Bottle. Pours burnt orange, hazy. Good lacing from a small head. Aroma is excellent... hops and caramel. Taste is much worse. Thin, watery, bitter (and not in a good way). Tastes a bit like paper. Failure. Dogbrick (13978) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAY 21, 2002
UPDATED: MAR 31, 2004 Rerate 03/31/04: For some reason the bottled version of this beer seems a lot different than the draught. The color is a nice ruddy dark amber, with a medium and lightly foamy off-white head. Thin and sticky lacing. The aroma has a citrus hops punch. Medium-bodied and nicely drinkable, with a nice balance of hops, citrus and malt. The finish is bitter and lingering, making this a pretty enjoyable beer overall. I guess I'll just stick to the bottled version from now on.
02/21/02 (3.3): Foamy head with good lacing. Contrary to the name, I felt the malt was much more prevalent than the hops. Perhaps they should rename it Maltus Maximus.
