3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a soft and coppery red with two fingers of sandy tan head. Very very interesting aroma and flavor. I get a lot of characters that I expect from a port of madera. Lots of dried dark fruit, prune and raisin. Malt forward for sure with some burnt sugar and dark caramel. Bready notes with some herbal hop notes. A pretty savory beer, enjoyed this one.
red color; bready, malty aroma; bready malt flavor with caramel notes; fairly light bodied ganache (6003) - New Jersey, USA - AUG 3, 2016
Bottle. Nose a little vegetal, a little weedy (not the kind with THC). Pour deep and hazy blend of reddish amber and brown, abundant carbonation and a large but airy and foamy beige head. Taste lightly sweet, lightly dry, medium bitterness starts slow but sneaks up on you, harsh dark caramel with interesting scored notes, and the sweetness transcends fruit into hard candy. So a lot of aggressive caramel malt, which works well here, but a little herbal-grassy clash. Full body picks up cloy with volume. Not a disaster, but it’s a hard pass. 12 ounce bottle - $2.49 at Total Wine & More in Greenville, South Carolina.
Appearance: Pours a clear, dark reddish-copper body with a reluctant, stray, off-white head.
Smell: Fairly neutral aroma, small touches of toast, brown sugar and a thin measure of earthiness.
Taste: A thinned taste of toast with a little grain backing. Lightly sweet with some hints of dry brown sugar. A mixed, vaguely berryish fruitiness. Very minor hops, softly earthy and just a bit spicy with near nil bitterness imparted. Fairly relaxed, mild finish that’s a wee bit drying.
Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Overall: A refreshing, easy-going, harmless red. ryanscourt (1497) - Latrobe, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 31, 2016
Toasty sweet hop note on a copper body. Quite drinkable, floral hop finish. ordybill (1815) - Douglasville, Georgia, USA - SEP 2, 2015
Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. This beer has a roasted malt aroma that matches nicely with the reddish / amber color of the beer. The head is a medium sized tan colored head. The flavor is full of malt and some hops in the background. I found this to be a thoroughly refreshing brew. I am glad I tried it and I will drink it again.

Pours a light color with very little foam on the head. Has a light caramel malt taste and doesn’t have a very dry aftertaste. Aroma is light and has a regular beer smell to it. Overall it’s good and I recommend giving it a try. superspak (5784) - Michigan, USA - MAY 10, 2015
12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours slightly hazy deep orange/copper color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, toast, biscuit, brown sugar, light nuttiness, light pear/apple, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, earthy hops, and light fruity yeast notes; with good strength. Taste of big caramel, toast, biscuit, brown sugar, light nuttiness, light pear/apple, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, biscuit, brown sugar, light nuttiness, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice robustness, complexity, and balance of dark/bready malt, earthy hops, and light fruity yeast flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Nicely clean with well restrained yeast ester notes in the aroma and flavors. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately creamy/bready mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent Irish red ale style. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, earthy hops, and light fruity yeast flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering. sturmthis (1149) - Bavaria, GERMANY - APR 3, 2015
On tap. Amber with little white head. Caramel malt aroma. similar taste, some nut. Nothing special. Beerman6686 (6607) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 3, 2015
This poured a red color with an off white head. Aroma was of grassy hops, caramel and toast. Flavor similar, pretty standard for the style but no real underlying flaws. DialSquare (5103) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - FEB 16, 2015
