This was a pretty good beer, but nothing to write home about. It was definitely better than the big names that were offered beside it.

A solid porter. Faint aromas of dark chocolate. Flavors of water coffee, some mild dark chocolate, earth, and woody notes. Earthy, dry finish is semi-sweet. Oily mouth feel. Enjoyable. sinfull (1632) - Brooklyn, New York, USA - MAY 16, 2017

Pours a dark brown with a thin tan head which disappears quickly.....aroma is chocolate, sweet malt, slight coffee.....taste follows the aroma with a medium thin body and slight bittering on the back end. puboflyons (3396) - Allenstown, New Hampshire, USA - MAR 17, 2017
From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. Brown, moderately heady pour with reddish hues. The aroma has a kind of cherry fruitiness at first along with the roasted sweet malts and a low hop profile. The body is light to medium and smooth. The taste also has a sweet cherry-like character with a slightly fruity short lasting bitterness to end.

Pretty much black color, lasting fluffy tan head with lacing. Sweet, malty, grainy, some chocolate scent. Malty, grainy, chocolate taste. Grainy, light roasted aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel, medium high grainy dry bitterness.
Pours a dark brown color with khaki colored head. Coffee, roasted malts, and chocolate on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied. Finishes with an over abundance of roast. tfontana (950) - Fremont, New Hampshire, USA - AUG 5, 2016
Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Manchester Wine and Liquors. Appearance is dark mahogany with finger-width light brown head with fair retention and minimal lacing. Aroma is roasted malt; mild dark fruit, caramel and chocolate; a little musty. Taste is roasted bitter--bordering on smoke--mild dark fruit, chocolate. Palate is medium bodied with frothy texture, average carbonation and lightly roasted bitter finish. Overall, aroma and taste have strong roasted quality but other features are pretty mild. The pour is flat and black, and the kooky label suggests an out of date weirdness - but the beer is not weird. There was a lot of sweet coffee and pumpernickel flavor, a little cocoa and cola, plus a whiff of woodsmoke. A very tasty porter that I enjoyed on draft as well. 12oz bottle from Total Wine in Jensen Beach. Very dark brown pour with a tan head. Chocolatey malts, some molasses. Also some chocolate liqueur. Not a terrific blend, lowly carbonated, low-ish alcohol presence. Solid example of an old style porter - tastier than most of those. 13.8
