12oz bottle. Poured a dark brown color with an off white head. Chocolate, smoke, roast, and some earthiness. Lighter smoke. cheap (5863) - Beaver Valley, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 28, 2015
Big and black. Should be under the smoked style. Yes, some smoke in there but it lacks the bigger attributes of bacon in the taste and smell, thank you. Never in yer face with the smoke, just enough to pique your interest. I like the laid back attitude it possesses. No hint of smoke detected in the aroma.

12 oz bottle from Giant Eagle in Pittsburgh. Nearly perfect and delicious with each and every swallow. If you like smoked beers be sure to include this one on your tasting journeys. phaleslu (10277) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JAN 19, 2015
12 oz. bottle from Dutch’s. Pours a deep cocoa brown with amber highlights and a moderate tan head that leaves a big swirl of film and a good-sized ring. Notes of chocolate, toast, and light smoke, with some tobacco and earth. Light-medium bodied, with low carbonation and a gritty, earthy, faintly metallic mouthfeel. Doesn’t quite hit the mark as either a schwarzbier or smoked beer. The smoke is very light in this one, which would be fine if the other half satisfied enough. Jet black pour with good tan head ring. Cocoa roasty nose is quite enticing. Smokeyness is extremely faint. But this is definitely one of the best schwarzbiers i’ve had. Extremely smooth and easy drinking. Would totally drink this again! tillmac62 (736) - Gaffney, South Carolina, USA - OCT 27, 2014
Pitch black pour with a normal head, lacing and retention. Rich nose of roast and dark chocolate over a touch of smoke. As it warms, the smokiness becomes a bit more pronounced, but still subtle. Light body with a slightly smooth texture which is spot on since this is a lager. Above average carbonation with a nice effervescence throughout. The flavor profile is simply outstanding - complex, balanced and intense. It begins with a slightly sweet roast character that flows into a roast bitterness with chocolate underneath. In the middle, a light sweet bitter chocolate predominates in an effervescent rush. In the somewhat dry finish, smoked malts take command and leave you with a campfire like smokiness that lingers. outlawskies (480) - Ohio, USA - OCT 12, 2014
Julie says not as smoky as expected very smooth maltier than a lager. Julie gives a 4
