Great Beer!!! Wonderful roasted malts that lead right into the sweet chocolaty flavor of this beer. One of the first micros I ever got into. This is the demon that started it all. A great Imperial Stout for all.

From Dec 2006 Poured from 12oz bottle(I've been "sitting" on this bottle forl over a year) a pitch black with a smallish head of foam that hardly shrinks during the seesion. Nice solid layer with plenty of lacing. The smell is wonderful! Strong notes of roasted malt and chocolate are a sheer delight...Ahhh. The taste is an absolute reflection of the nose. Delicious chocolate and roasted malt floods my palate upon first sip. Next, I notice a coffee flavour that joins in, along with hot cocoa, making for a super nice complexity that carries through to the finish where I can just taste a bit of bitterness but..the actual finish ends up back to where this great RIS started. Oh my gosh, this is a superb nectar. Thank goodness I have one more bottle in my stash. As far as the 9%abv, it doesn't show up in the taste; there's just some warming after consumption and that's most welcome this time of year. ;^) Bottom line: A *superb* sample of the style that is sure to please the diehard fans of Russian Imperial Stouts. Don't miss this one if you see it around your nedck of the woods and if you don't see it, trade for it or buy it online. What a sipper!!

Smooth malty nose. The beer starts malty dry, lots of roast with a dry and moderate bitter finish. Great depth, malty deep, fantastic.

This imperial stout is rich in color, the taste has notes of dark roast coffee, although the aroma is not as strong as the taste. Overall a great tasting beer that is for those who like a stout that is strong but smooth. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dodatkowo intensywnie czekoladowe. Cała masa skojarzeń z tortem czekoladowym, bombonierką, pralinkami belgijskimi. Duża doza kakao i kruchych wafelków kakaowych. Orzechy migdałowe w kontrze i lekki karmel. Słodycz równoważy stonowana paloność. Goryczka średniej siły, finisz półsłodki, czekoladowo-orzechowy. Tekstura raczej umiarkowana, niż oleista. Odczucie w ustach pełne, ale zarazem niesamowita lekkość degustacji. 9,5% alkoholu, a pije piwo łyk za łykiem, praktycznie bez dłuższych przerw. Wysycenie ciut za wysokie. Niskie do średniego. Cholernie smaczne!
Wysycenie: Niskie / Średnie.
Etykieta: Rewelacyjna!
Podsumowanie:
Moje pierwsze piwo z browaru Thirsty Dog Brewing Co. z Akron w stanie Ohio.

Very chocolatey malt smells. Pours black brown with a thin tan head. Some lacing. Sweet tastes of coffee with some alcohol in the short finish. Pretty good but not the best Imperial I’ve had.
