Clear dark amber pour with a deep dark ruby cast. Nice head and lacing that retains for 3 minutes. The nose is bourbon over sweet dark fruit, mostly plum and raisin, coupled with notes of vanilla, caramel and oak over molasses. Almost full bodied with a very rich creamy texture. The superb flavor profile is complex, yet balanced. Unlike Founders Backwoods Bastard, bourbon doesnt predominate. You get a complex balance of bourbon against the flavors of the nose. It begins with the dark fruit, progresses to the caramel and molasses based sweetness, then bourbon and the associated vanilla and oak notes. The finish is a smooth bourbon forward sweetness counter balanced with an oak astringency that flows into that nice alcoholic burn at the back of the throat. Compared to FBB, the Wulver wins by a nose for the Wee Heavy title.

355ml bottle (thx, Yannick!) at Alexs. Pours a hazy copper with a tan head. Aroma is is lots of bourbon, dark fruits, chocolate, boozy. Taste is the same. Very good. Maybe just because I do very like good bourbon barrel aged beers? :-)

Mahogany color, hazy, small head. The aroma is a bit malty, and boozy, bourbon, light tobacco. Moderate malt depth, sweet caramel, strong bourbon vanilla presence, and quite strong booze too. The low bitterness and high alcohol content mean this is not really balanced beer, but its a very good drink.

On tap at Millwrights in Simsbury. Poured a deep mahogany with a small off white head. Aroma of vanilla, molasses, a bit of bourbon. Taste is lightly sweet with fig, cherry, a bit of molasses, some bourbon finish. Very very balanced.. hides the alcohol. Refined. A triumph.

2016/10/10 - Pours a dark amber brown colour with a thick, frothy, off white head that slowly reduces and leaves ample, patchy lacing. Aroma is lovely; toffee, milk chocolate, bourbon, oak, vanilla and dark fruits. Taste precisely follows nose; vanilla, oaky bourbon, milk chocolate, toffee with hits of cherry and figs. Mouthfeel is medium and creamy with smooth carbonation and a dry, lightly warming finish. Exceptionally balanced, super smooth and hides the ABV surprisingly well. Really nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz. bottle, consumed on 9-6-16. Boozy, juicy, dusty aroma features scents of caramel and prune. Not bad but not my favorite set of scents. Pours a clear, dark amber with a small to moderate amount of beige head. Some effervescence in the liquid. Pleasant appearance and nice color but nothing special. Short-lasting head. Decent lacing. Boozy, malty flavor. Caramel and toffee. Waffles with maple syrup. Milk chocolate. Non-tart raspberry. Bourbon flavor noticeable. Sweet yet substantial. Medium to full body. Some liveliness and frothiness in the palate. Bourbon heat, which is good, but otherwise nothing of note in the palate. Im not a big fan of the style (wee heavy). Not a bad beer but doesnt grab me in particular.

Bottle. From parents. Pours a brown color with some particles. Small head. Aroma is vanilla, oak barrel, toffee, bourbon. Medium light sweetness. Warming alcohol. Light carbonation. Taste is similar to aroma. An excellent bourbon barrel aged sipping beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
