It is a beautiful red-toned very dark amber with a creamy, lasting head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, spice, anise, dried fruit and licorice. The flavor is moderately sweet with notes of roasted malt, a ginger zing, dried dark fruits, cardamom and in the finish the ginger returns. Nice one!

Bottle. It pours a reddish dark brown body under a dense, beige head. Some curtains. Its quite spiced on the nose, with ginger and cardamom, prunes and some caramel and licorice. Its full-bodied and lighlty warming on the palate, semi-dry and with flavors of spices and dried fruits. Some bitterness too, lasting for a good while. Quite pleasant this one, although lacking a bit on complexity. 141011

UPDATED: MAR 28, 2014 Nice deep ruby color with hint of mahogany. Head is quite thin and dissipates mostly leaving just thin film of foam with some slightly thicker patches. Otherwise nice but cant say I like head here. Tilting this slightly improves looks a bit. Very malty aroma has also seasonal spices like ginger and cinnamon. Bit hard to define..ash in the mix and perfume-like notes? ...lol..nope..that comes from the table next to me (dude with colorful clothes on). Some fruits and berries anyway. Ginger is much more present in flavor, also bit Belgian-type yeasty bits and bit alcohol and those spices. Medium body and carbonation, Semisweet, tasty finish is spicy and nuanced. Quite nice seasonal brew, nuanced but not ideal balance here. But would propably fit nicely to holiday feast.
