A Mes rate: bottle at the ever brilliant Chris O’s Pre GBBF Extravaganza.
Black with a good beige head. Roasted fruity malt, hints of chocolate and smoke with a good balancing hoppy bitterness in the finish giving up some spice and spruce. Alcohol is hidden well. Straight forward but very tasty and drinkable.

A handbottled bottle from May 09. It’s pitch black with a nougat colored, creamy head. The aroma has notes of spicy hops and roasted malt, that struggles to be in the front position, but it also has notes of rubber, licorice and light smoke. The flavor has a light sweetness and notes of spicy hops, roasted malt, anise, licorice, chocolate and very light smoke. The finish has a nice and citrussy bitterness with hints of spruce. Quite nice.
