COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

PapaVillum (937) - Valby, DENMARK - JAN 17, 2017
500 ml, flaske, 8.5 % ABV, BB: 07/05/14, købt hos boxbeers.dk. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Almost black with stable beige froth. Aroma has hard roasted malt, coffee, dried fruit, licorice, dark sugar and aromatic boozyness. Could be mistaken for sweet bourbon, which obviously it isnt. Flavour has about the same with the licorice and dark sugar being the strongest. Good hoppy bitterness from the start. Aroma gets a lot more alcoholic as the beer warms up a little, but still nicely balanced. Good.

50cl bottle oddly bb 07052015 courtesy of SlackerMads in EUSwap 09/2015, tak skal du alligevel have! - "Overgret Porter alias Indian Black Ale alias Sten Porter"...love the self-redefining oldschool-onomastic attitude here. - gorgeously organic, deep shoesole-brown blackrimmed pour. Charred brown malts, ground coffee, stewed maroni, shoesole, bayleaf, tobacco and a good whiff of sweeter porto (muscuvado plum, castor sugar) and jenever resp. aquavit sharp ABVs in aroma.- Decidedly char and hop bitter in taste, near-savoury with nuances of burn and charcoal, before releasing plum wine and dark berry spirit on the filter coffee. Deadpan dry and roasty, like a Cuban cigar. - In league with Ayinger Celebrator, Samuel Smith ImpStout and North Coast Rasputin in terms of solid, oldschool, hardcore "dark beer style" no-nonsense attitude.
