TorbenJensen (1486) - Valby, DENMARK - FEB 8, 2017
Beautiful dark beer with beige coarse foam. The aroma is ripe berries and taste is initially slightly roasted malt with a subtle flavor of star anise and cardamom. Notes of caramel malt blends in well with the savory taste of Christmas, but a typical Belgian dubbel is not completed. It tastes rather in the direction of a good full-bodied Amber ale, and its storage with oak chips can not be denied. Maybe it will be a bit to sweet in taste, but fortunately it has a reasonable hoppy bitterness that brings together the spicy taste towards the end, so the beer becomes enjoyable and associates mind for the recent Christmas season. Its probably a decidedly seasonal beers best suited for Christmas, and it is also for this purpose it is brewed, so I consider it as approved, for at Christmas time it is allowed that everything is a little sweeter than usual standard.

Flaske. Dansk julel nr det er bedst/vrst. Al for sd og al for mange julekrydderier, men en fin bitterhed samler det meget godt og nr det nu er jul er det egentlig meget godt.

63 cl bottle, shared. Slightly hazy amber colour with a thin, off-white head. Some golden hues. Sweet, spiced aroma with caramel malts, toasted and vineous notes, bread and wooden notes. Taste is light sweet. Medium body with a creamy texture and a soft carbonation. Finishes dry and slightly bitter with vineous notes and bread. Fine Christmas themed beer. Tasted alongside the Thisted Nikolaus, this one came second.

CloakedDagger (2281) - - DEC 24, 2016
Bottle 63 cl. Pours a clear, reddish brown with a small, off-white head. Nose has plenty of Xmas spice, especially cloves. Rich, malty body, brown sugar and again spices. Unfotyunately also the metallic tang found in so many Thisted beers. No traces of the American oak. Pretty solid hop presence. Lacks the complexity of the very best Belgian Dubbels. 241216
