Clear, orange body. Thin, vanishing white head. Smells like a helles/export-style lager; medium roasted malts and some hops with a slight metallic touch. Taste is very strange; a kind of molded maltiness with a touch of bitter lager hops in the background that never quite leaves the rather oily palate. I think this is my first heller bock, and I’m not quite impressed. This is like a strong lager with a bit of extra malts and some weird funky undertones. Unfortunately, this time around I don’t mean "weird" and "funky" in a good way - this is rather in the not-so-good-department. I know Thisted Bryghus can to better than this, and it has absolutely nothing to do with the Scandinavian Christmas beer tradition.

Blom (848) - Sorø, DENMARK - FEB 22, 2010
Amber with a huge head. Malty aroma with notes of caramel and biscuits. The flavour is sweet and dominated by the malts, with a metallic and alcohol marked finish.

2.6
Plovmand (8683) - Grindsted, DENMARK - JAN 21, 2010
Bottle as Jul i Underhuset. Clear deep golden with a medium white head. The aroma is mainly fruity and malty with some caramel. The flavour is sweet malty, fruity and light hoppy. Ends up bitter.
