Dark brown pour with a small bubbled tan head. Rich aroma sweet and a tiny touch smoky. Light chocolate and syrupy aromas mixed with a light smokey/roasty note and some earthy nuttiness. Average palate, a bit over carbonated and thin for the style. Flavor is not as good as the aroma an adjunct malt flavor, weak syrups a bit wattery chocolate and light coffee in the finish but not in a good way more like cheap coffee grounds left lingering. Sadly disappointing.

Pours deep mahogany with a thick and fluffy tan head. Aroma very punchy and a bit sour with a touch of roasted nut and chocolate. Taste is earthy roast malt, sour bread, chocolate, maybe some caramel. Plenty of surface flavor, but less depth - though richer in flavor as it warms. Quite a nice doppelbock - a style I tend to enjoy. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

glennmastrange (2897) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - NOV 10, 2013
Bottle. Moderate to heavy dark bread, cereal and milk chocolate, light cooked orange for the hops, moderate dough and broth for the yeast, with dried fig and toffee. Head is average size, frothy, beige with good lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is sparkling clear dark mahogany. Flavor starts lightly to moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly sweet and faintly bitter. Palate is medium, a bit chewy with a soft carbonation. Nice meaty Doppelbock with the right amount of sweetness and perfectly smooth.

Bottle. Aroma is nuts, toast, and caramel. Very Nice dark brown color with a thick tan foam. Taste is chocolate, toast, chocolate, and a little bit licorice. Medium-full body with moderate carbonation. Overall a decent dopplebock but not one of my favorites.

good aroma that smells of coffee and chocolate. The head is medium bodied, but doesn’t cling well. The color is a dark brown with tinges of red. It has a very pleasant nutty, chocolate, coffee combination which is only slightly bitter.
