3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
355ml bottle. Lighter amber for the style, quickly dissipating head. Flavor is light for the style, a touch soapy and herbal, it is inoffensive but doesn’t bring much to the table.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours clear, bubbly copper with a thick and fairly persistent pale buff head. Aroma features malty, fruity, and subtle yeast and caramel tones. Flavor echoes all of these while tossing in a bit of woody and somewhat bitter hops. Mouthfeel offers typical body and fizz, and a woody hop finish. Great for the first day of autumn - and Oktoberfest.

3.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
DATE TASTED: November 25, 2015 ... GLASSWARE: 22 oz. pilsner... OCCASION: watching Blackish to prepare for the Thanksgiving... APPEARANCE: first things first--the bottle spurted foam, necessitating a swift pour; once in the glass, a monstrous white head sits atop a thick, nearly opaque brownish body that does NOT reflect an Oktoberfest--definitely sinking the status quo.. the head crisscrosses with stratus-cloud haze--this appeals on multiple levels...AROMA: forward, malty, and yeasty... nutty cheese comes to mind.... chocolate, some fruity esters, and fenolic alcohol (even at 6% ABV) round the experience into an attractive aroma.. PALATE: medium-bodied, oily, soft and flat... cannot hold its slightly bitter finish--dry like a bock...TASTE: semi-sweet, reasonably bitter--the malt is a hammer that bludgeons other flavors...some chocolate and tobacco... an odd attempt at an Oktoberfest ...OVERALL: this is my first Thomas Creek, and I planned to mock the company tag line--until the tag rang true... easily the heaviest, least hopped fest I have had... and while I applaud their desire for uniqueness, the beer struggles to be drinkable at times, with a syrupy sweetness and a malty bitterness that challenges and rewards in due time...

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: FEB 1, 2015 12 oz undated bottle served in Peroni glass. [from notes]
Clear copper with a creamy tan head. Quite lovely but the head is short-lived. There is a lasting ring that leaves decent lacing.
Very attractive aroma with a matching flavor. Fine sweet malt flavor with enough hops to produce a sweet/bitter balance.

Bottle-nice toasty aroma of barley. Copper color with a medium, foamy head. Taste is malt that is crispy and not overwhelming. Some nutty flavoring on the finish. A nice understated Oktoberfest. Total wine.
