Dark brown pour, light brown head. Very roasty and dry porter. A bit charred, asphalt, and a light coffee finish. Not my favorite porter.

BillWyce (1086) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 12, 2013
From notes: Poured deep, opaque nut brown with a 3-finger light tan head. Roasted malt aroma with a nutty note, and maybe a touch of citrus. Body is medium-to-full with a touch of astringent dryness in the finish. Flavor is nutty and roasty, with a touch of citrus from the hops. The hop note wouldn’t qualify as string, but definitely one of the hoppier porters I’ve had.

DocLock (10706) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 10, 2013
Bottle from Whole Foods Plymouth Meeting. Pours dark brown and deep mahogany through direct light, with a 2-finger tan head. Nose is roasty choc/black patent malts, cacao, nuts. Tastes medium in heft and complexity, with a roasty malt flavor, mild cacao, heavy nutty flavors, and some finishing molasses. The repour gives more well-retained frothy head. This is a solid porter, with a complex tan head more legendary than Cassius Clay’s.

Patrickctenchi (6595) - Cox’s Knob, columbus, Indiana, USA - MAY 27, 2013
Deep brown/ruby with a thick, light brown head. Slightly lactic, heavy bitter chocolate scent. Bitter coffee grounds, burned chocolate flavor.. Thin, ashy....not overly appealing.

Capa (3304) - Kitsap, Washington, USA - JAN 12, 2013
Dark with a tan head. Earthy and light citrus hops, light roasted malt, a bit of chocolate. Nice full body. Earthy hop, citrus, tart, coffee bean. Nothing out of the ordinary but a solid porter and one I could have a couple rounds of at the bar. Good stuff.
