COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle & cask; Special.

This Coalition Ale based on the classic Old ale stylw was brewed on 25 February 2009 when the Thornbridge brewing team were joined by Mark Tranter from Dark Star Brewing in Sussex. Matured for almost two years and now ready to be sipped and enjoyed - cheers!
This unfiltered orange-hued Ale pours with a fine white head. The aroma offers notes of sandalwood and honey. In the mouth it has a soft quality but overall it’s dry with a mouth-coating bitterness and notes of honey and oriental resin. The finish has a subtle bitterness reminiscent of liquorice root.

Malts: Maris Otter Pale Ale and Crystal
Hops: Atlas, Aurora and Liberty.
Brewed February 2009 and bottled October 2010.

50cl, at 7%Vol, as Coalition Old Ale, new exclusive English brew Anno 2010, from Den Bierzolder Heule, complex brew, malty and slightly sweet, yet easy to drink, balanced, clear, small head, good brew, yet expensive

Bottled. Cloudy deep golden, small head. Grassy spicy nose. Medium-full bodied, well rounded moutfheel. Fruity, salty and sweaty. Fairly low bitterness. It’s allright, but not remarkable.

50cl Bottle at Dutch RB Meeting, gift from nate2g, thanks Nate! Hazy deep golden colour, white head. Aroma of flowers, lavender, light chalky, pale malts, citrus. Flavour is much the same, light sweet, dry citrussy finish. Medium bodied. Very subtle and tasty.

Tasting at MaxxDaddy’s house. Not like any Old Ale I have had before. The appearance is a cloudy orange, white head. The aroma is fruity, citrus. The flavor is flowers, caramel. The finish is floral hops, perfume-like. Not bad, but unexpected, a serious departure from other Old Ales I have had.

blipp (9373) - La Mesa, California, USA - MAR 19, 2011
Bottle at Max’s tasting. Pours orange with a white head. Sweet malty aroma with light fruity notes and light toast. The flavor is fruity and toffee sweet, with light hoppy and toasty notes. Solid.
