Thornbridge is a behemoth of a brewery. And this is a chocolate mint stout. There are some initial sour notes (strange), and a chocolate tinge (not too bad), but the two sensations feel vaguely disconnected, like a sort of deconstructed After Eights. I guess it’s mainly because the chocolatey-ness only really settles in after the first few sips/gulps. A decent introductory stout perhaps, for those uninitiated to the strange flavours of the craft world. Though I find myself saying that a lot. theprof (1365) - Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, ENGLAND - MAR 24, 2017
Cask. Aroma"after eight mint’ dark chocolate and mint liquor. Pours dark mahogany body with thick cream top . Taste is toffee sweet with mint to finish. It seems therefore to deliver exactly what it promises and nothing more. Svesse (8942) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - MAR 10, 2017
(Draught at Craft Beer Co Covent Garden, London, 28 Nov 2016) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of dark chocolate, black coffee, vanilla and hints of raisins. Malty, roasted taste with dark chocolate, mint, coffee, liquorice and a balanced cacao bitterness. Medium body, with soft and smooth mouthfeel. A touch of sweetness. Tasty and well balanced stout with lots of chocolate and a gentle, fresh mint and vanilla character. Very nice. fonefan (52351) - VestJylland, DENMARK - FEB 8, 2017
