Draught. Very dark amber coloured. Light brown head. Aroma: Caramel, cocoa, light roast, light bacon. Flavour: Roast, cocoa, caramel, smoke. Medium boedieed. Ends chocolatish with a touch of smoke.

bird real ale festival 2014. Dark licorice on nose. Light med body, dry. Slight beef jerky/bbq. Long nice finish.
Cask at the gin winter ale festival. Aroma is berry fruitys, vanilla oak and hot boozy alcohol. Opaque black dark caramel pour with a halo of light tan head. Flavour is woody, twigs some very smooth roast. Finish has a ton of nail polish remover. Boozy and head ache inducing. Palate is thick and syrupy. With a light carbonation. Cask at The Gun Winter Ale festival. It pours a deep dark brown colour with a medium off-white head. Aroma is upfront whicky and smoky wood. Notes of licorice, coca, vanilla, spices and charcoal. Taste is quite sweet with plenty of whisky, vanilla, wood, pepper, cocoa. Medium to full bodied with good carbonaiton. As Josh said, very balanced yet full of whisky tones. Cask at The Gun winter beer festival. Pours heavy dark brown with a small tan head staying for the duration and leaning superb lacing. Nose is plenty smokey with loads of chocolate, spice, aniseed and a touch of of bourbon focus. Hints at balance. Taste focuses on vanilla chocolate with a nice dry and oaky feel to it. Huge cocoa forward beer. Very robust with a bourbon spice kick on the finish. Works nicely. Insanely good balance. Probably one of the most balanced barrel aged beers I have ever had. Medicinal menthol aroma. Nice black, small loose head. Soft palate, a little flat. Simple rich roast in the taste. Only fills out in the finish. Also better as it warms, so maybe good as a slow sipper, even though it has no sign of alcohol at all. Which means that it’s a nice sweet roasty glugger too, if that’s your thing. Smokiness took a long time to appear. Whisky nicely well in check, provinding a feel, but not a taste, of the barrel.
Cask @ Gallows Bird, Espoo. Black beer with a tan head. Aroma of sweet molasses, chocolate and coffee. Mildly smoky flavour with bitter hops. Gallows Bird, Espoo. Almost black, thin brown head. Licorice, tar, dark fruity notes, mild smoky notes. Flavor has smoke, licorice, wood, alcohol, makt. Long, smooth, roasty finish. Excellent stuff.

Whiskey sweetness, berries, hops, paper dryness and sugar in the aroma.
The flavour is roasted malt, hoppy bitterness, alcohol, spices and whiskey. Quite likeable.

Cask @ Gallows Bird, RAF14. Pours pretty much black with a small, large-bubbled, beige head though there are some traces of a proper, small-bubbled blanket in there as well. Aroma is quite peaty, somewhat smoky, liquorice, roast. Taste is roast and chocolate, huge dose of salty liquorice, tar and some peat, some smokiness. Quite full, somewhat carbonated, definitely not flat. Good, even great perhaps, just not my cup of tea tonight. Funnily enough, the description at the bar promises 8.3 vitamins.
