Pours a deep brown in colour with a tan head. The smokiness of the peated malts is matched by a smooth taste of toffee, caramel and dark fruits.

Tasted at the 4th BBF @ De Molen. Black pour. Roasty aroma, chocolate, caramel and some vanilla and coffee. Flavor is slightly bitter, very full bodied for the low ABV. Lovely balance, great brew.

500ml bottle from the LCBO. 5.3% alc./vol. Pours and opaque deep brown colour with one finger of light brown head. Aromas of coffee, roasted malts, and a whiff of caramel. Taste matches the aroma with a well balanced smoked finish. Not as dry as your usual porter. Excellent smoked porter.

Cask conditioned handpump Craft Beer Co EC1 London 30/04/13. A black beer with an off-white bubbly head. An excellent smoked porter. Super smoke and lovely chocolatey roast. perfectly balanced and totally spot on for drinkability. Just my type of beer.

Beese (3051) - Watford, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - AUG 12, 2013
Draft at Euston Tap, London on 17 July 2013. Poured a very dark ruby, almost black with a thin off-white head. Aroma of coffee, burnt malt and a good hint of smokiness. Full mouth feel with flavours of bitter dark chocolate, more coffee and some cured meat notes. Rounded bitter palate mixed with some molasses.

I know this brewer as being excellent, especially in mid abv ales with refined yet expressive tastes. While I just had a poorer experience, this was another winner. Lovely soft smoke aroma, quite brown malty rather than tea or hard smoke like. Very finely balanced. Taste is even better, with balancing bitterness to challenge, or rather excite, your taste buds. Lasting too. Delicious! (50cl bottle from Saveur Bière)

Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. A hazy dark brown-black beer that pours with a thin tan head. It has rich chocolate and smoked malt flavours with more roast on the creamy bitter finish. Excellent – Thornbridge back to their best!

The beet pours a solid coca-cola colour with a very thin creamy brown head which lingers and laces well. The aroma is peat wood, roasted malt, coffee, and dark chocolate. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is well balanced between a smoked malt flavour, coffee, and caramel notes. Tastes great!
