Pours a deep brown in colour with a tan head. The smokiness of the peated malts is matched by a smooth taste of toffee, caramel and dark fruits.

On tap at The Bishop Arms Folkungagatan, pours a deep dal brown with and a small tan head. Aroma of dark toasted malt, tar, some smoked malt, and rubber. Flavour brings out smoke and bacon upfront, and with moderate toasted malt. Quite smoky for a porter, which characterizes the flavour profile in this one. Fairly drinkable, but a little too smoky for my palate. Decent.

Beautifully executed smoked porter. Body is a bit light for my taste, and it definitely is not anything else than a smoked porter, no complexity. But it still is a very simple and pure expression of the style.

Dark brown color with brown head. Aroma has some burnt milk notes, like a creme brulee, roasted grain coffee substitute, some smoked malt but does not get meaty. Taste is slightly sweet at first, continues with roasted grains and some chocolate, medium, roasty bitterness on the finish. Medium body, soft carbonation, quite soft on the palate and really easy to drink. Overall this is a really well made beer, a good introduction to smoked beers.

koshack (1909) - Gdañsk, POLAND - FEB 13, 2017
Ciemno brunatny, prawie czarny. Goryczka niska, prawie niewyczuwalna. Jakby trochę za mało ciała.

medium aroma - burnt and smoked malt, espresso with milk, smoked black fruits (plums), a bit of burnt sugar, earthy hint with old wooden cask nuances, some dump and tart barley. medium taste - roasted malt, diluted coffee, some dark chocolate, a bit of sourness, some rubber/tar, well dried and smoked black fruits, burnt sugar, a bit sweet. good smoked, with an under medium bitterness, but with a lot of aggressive burn.

heman (1134) - Tychy, POLAND - DEC 13, 2016
Barwa brunatna, piana mało intensywna, redukuje się do obrączki. W aromacie dominuje wędzonka, przypomina paloną gumę, rozgrzane podkłady kolejowe i wędzoną szynkę. W tle ukazują się nuty gorzkiej czekolady. Piwo ma średnią pełnię, jest mocno wysycone. Wędzonka jest subtelniejsza niż w aromacie, za to bardziej uwypuklony jest wpływ słodów palonych. Mamy gorzką czekoladę i kawę zbożową. Goryczka jest średnio-niska o kawowo-palonym charakterze.

bartlebier (4118) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - DEC 4, 2016
500ml bb01/2017, merci... - Clear, thinner than expected, still pleasing mahogani pour, satisfying beige crema. Wet fruity caramels of damp roasted chestnut and hazelnuts in aroma, going into the coffee grounds ashes with whisps of umami smoke in flavour (dried meat, smoked plums, liquorice). Dry, clean finish. Subtle, idiosyncratic porter from Brewdog’s still prepubescent grandfathers.

MoritzF (10068) - Ottobrunn, GERMANY - NOV 30, 2016
(bottle) Black coloured hue with a brown and firm short foamy head. Earthy, leafy and moderately roasted malty aroma with notes of chocolate, coffee, hints of licorice and a whiff of smoke. Mildly bitter and slightly sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Creamy and mildly roasted malty taste with earthy, leafy notes, dark chocolate, coffee, backed by slightly smoky accents; moderately dry and roasty bitter finish with a mildly sweetness, smoke and chocolate in the aftertaste. Good. 07.XI.16

radassace (409) - SCOTLAND - NOV 22, 2016
500ml bottle. Pours dark with a small tan head. Nose of dark chocolate, coffee, toffee and peaty smoke. Medium to light mouth feel. Taste is toasted smokey malt and some dark dried fruit leading into a slight toffee sweetness, finishing with a cigar, peaty woody smoke. Really lovely stuff. Will buy again.
