Bracia is the Celtic name for a beverage brewed in Iron Age Europe with reference found on a Roman inscription at Haddon Hall,Derbyshire. Little is known about this except it was high in alcohol, brewed with cereals and, most probably, honey. Thornbridge’s Bracia has been infused with a generous amount of dark and bitter Chestnut Honey. This was sourced by Head Brewer Stefano Cossi from Beekeeper Onelia Pin in the Alpine foothills of North East Italy. Aromas are of chestnut, honey, cappuccino, white chocolate, dark fruits, vibrant fresh peel. The mouthfeel is velvety and rich, with notes of coffee, chocolate, liquorice and hazelnuts with warming alcohol, cocoa and a little peat in the finish. Malts: Maris Otter, Brown, Munich, Dark Crystal, Black, Chocolate, Peated and Roasted Barley. Hops: Target, Pioneer, Hallertau Northern Brewer and Sorachi Ace. Bracia can be cellared for up to one year, maybe longer. Its flavours will evolve so why not enjoy the experience of opening a bottle every once in a while.

Pours deep black. Lovely solid tan head. Leaves good lacing on glass. Big chocolate, coffee, alcohol, lactose, aniseed liquorice, nuts,. Flavour is a creamy milk latte, caramel, hazelnut, dry earth, liquorice, cherry. A slightly dry finish but it is so luscious it’s leaves a milk chocolate aftertaste. Slight alcohol hit. It’s a beer you delve into and find it hard to leave. Layers of complexity. Great beer.

BOTTLE 50CL Look: pitch black , espresso frothy to creamy head. Aroma: rich black malts, chocolaty, something totally hard to get sweet-vegetal-caramelized (is this the chestnut honey?), fresh-cut pumpkin, light alcohol, dark dried fruit. Taste: intense, sweet and chocolaty, dried fruit, nutty, spicy alcohol byte and potent bitterness.

Unique and intense. Excellent!

Bottle boosted @ the Royal Mile, just this evening!
Pours black with a huge fluffy tan head and nice lacing on the glass.

The aroma is rich, sweet & floral with nice honey tones. It’s pleasantly but lightly roasty and has just a touch of smoke.

The flavor is not as sweet as the aroma, it’s got a nice coffee like roastiness, a medium but well suited level of bitterness, some floral & rich honey notes are featured as well. The beer has some spicy alcohol & the peatiness of the beer intensifies as it warms.

Really enjoyable stuff!
