COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned;
Bracia is the Celtic name for a beverage brewed in Iron Age Europe with reference found on a Roman inscription at Haddon Hall,Derbyshire. Little is known about this except it was high in alcohol, brewed with cereals and, most probably, honey. Thornbridges Bracia has been infused with a generous amount of dark and bitter Chestnut Honey. This was sourced by Head Brewer Stefano Cossi from Beekeeper Onelia Pin in the Alpine foothills of North East Italy. Aromas are of chestnut, honey, cappuccino, white chocolate, dark fruits, vibrant fresh peel. The mouthfeel is velvety and rich, with notes of coffee, chocolate, liquorice and hazelnuts with warming alcohol, cocoa and a little peat in the finish. Malts: Maris Otter, Brown, Munich, Dark Crystal, Black, Chocolate, Peated and Roasted Barley. Hops: Target, Pioneer, Hallertau Northern Brewer and Sorachi Ace. Bracia can be cellared for up to one year, maybe longer. Its flavours will evolve so why not enjoy the experience of opening a bottle every once in a while.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Beer Market Jaffa. Thanks ArizviSG. Black with tan head. Wine, ink and gouache paint aroma, inky, bitter, slightly dry and slightly roasty in the mouth, full body, sleek, light carbonation and a little roasty finish.

Bottle, from Thornbridge Online, at the mass online Thornbridge/Oakham Tasting of 11/02/14. Pitch black with a mahoosive dirty tan head - utter filth in fact, this subsided after a few mintutes to leave a covering and edgework, finally ending up as the shape of a scary hedgehog. Nose is chocolate malt, spice, herbal tang, chocolate biscuits, dark fruits on the turn. Taste comprises bitter chocolate, earthy hopped backbone, spice, herbal, light shades of that Hungarian Zwak affair a la light creosote, bitter dark fruit rinds. Medium bodied carbonation is a little prickly but helps this 10% number drink more easily. So I let this one warm up over an hour or so and it didnt improve the flavours massively. Solid for style, drinkable for 10%, but not one Id rush back to time and again.

500 mL bottle supplied by Leighton for our IP trade. Many thanks! To oversized brandy snifter, it pours a deep, dark purplish brown with which a quickly-diminishing tan khaki ringed head, 1 finger in length, rested atop. Aromas of prunes, toasted breadcrumbs, hazelnut butter, oak, blackstrap molasses, butternut squash pure, autumnal leaves, burnt leather, booze, sugarcane, red licorice, and sourdough. Tastes the same with the addition of peat smoke, spearmint, melted wax, and marsh rosemary by mid-palate. By swallow, its hinting at chestnuts, pine needles, semi-sweet chocolate, castagnaccio, stale coffee, raisins, and black lime. Citric acid also present. Bitey and versatile. Bloody fuckin good.

500ml bottle from the brewery online shop. Deep, dark brown with a big tan head. Smoky and metallic aromas, bubblegum and coffee. Lots going on. Seems to smell a bit different every time... Lemon and chocolate coming through now. Great aromas. Taste has all this going on too, and a good balance between bitter and sweet - sometimes big beers this strength are too sweet on the finish, but this has dried out well, assuming the champagne yeast has something to do with that. Getting something nutty now, on the taste. Full-bodied,rich and creamy. Long finish. Very nice beer.

At a tasting, many thanks DSG, zvikar and Ariel, small beige head, totaly black colour, aroma of wax, old shoes, glue, hints of charred wood and roastiness, flavour of dark chocolate with hints of smoke, wax, charred wood and dirt, with some fruitiness coming and going, long and intense dark chocolate aftertaste. Intriguing beer which is quite difficult to drink.

Bottle shared at a tasting at Beer Market Jaffa. Black-colored with a light brown head. Aroma of dark malts, some roastiness, some chocolate, dark fruits and floral honey notes. Sweet flavor with a light acidic note, chocolate, a bit of honey, some dark fruits touches, mild roastiness and a finish with light hoppiness. Rather full-bodied, quite silky and rounded. Very good and complex.
