COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned;
Bracia is the Celtic name for a beverage brewed in Iron Age Europe with reference found on a Roman inscription at Haddon Hall,Derbyshire. Little is known about this except it was high in alcohol, brewed with cereals and, most probably, honey. Thornbridges Bracia has been infused with a generous amount of dark and bitter Chestnut Honey. This was sourced by Head Brewer Stefano Cossi from Beekeeper Onelia Pin in the Alpine foothills of North East Italy. Aromas are of chestnut, honey, cappuccino, white chocolate, dark fruits, vibrant fresh peel. The mouthfeel is velvety and rich, with notes of coffee, chocolate, liquorice and hazelnuts with warming alcohol, cocoa and a little peat in the finish. Malts: Maris Otter, Brown, Munich, Dark Crystal, Black, Chocolate, Peated and Roasted Barley. Hops: Target, Pioneer, Hallertau Northern Brewer and Sorachi Ace. Bracia can be cellared for up to one year, maybe longer. Its flavours will evolve so why not enjoy the experience of opening a bottle every once in a while.

Very dark, thick head. Nuts, bread, coffee, liquorice, burnt. High bitterness, medium sweetness. Very strong and complex. Should be sampled slowly and in a focused state of mind to fully appreciate all the flavours.

Bottle from Rehills of Jesmond. Pours a very deep ruby thats verging on black with a nice beige froth. The aroma is sweet with red fruit and honey. The taste starts with some spice before notes of honey, red fruit, liquorice, wood, leather and sherry. Lads of flavour going on and hugely complex. A beer unlike anything Ive had before. To begin with I thoughr there was a little too much honey flavour for my palate, but after a few mouthfulls the honey went to the background, replaced by coffee and chocolate making it feel much more like an imperial stout. Amazing.

500ml bottle enjoyed @ home, thanks to Gary. Pours black with a beige head. Aroma is raw honey, floral, light roasted malt, dark dried fruits, caramel and light roasted malt. Flavour is sweet. Medium to full bodied, oilyish texture, soft carbonation. Finish is sweet and lots of honey.

10%ABV. Srong Ale. Poured out of the bottle a rich black-brown. 40SRM. Nose has some very pleasant bourbon-like aromas. There is are pinot grapes in the nose. There are some nice honeyed date aromas. There is a nice sweet, wheaty slightly umami aroma, like yakitori (makes perfect sense really when you consider wheat, sugar and fire are common ingredients). Im going to take the grilled meat analogy one step further and suggest that the nose has that won There are very subtle oak and smoke flavors as well. Maybe its just my whiskey palate sneakig in here... Mouthfeel is carbonated. Well balanced. The body on this thing is heftty and resplendent with full bodied deeply roasted sweet malts. The sweet embrace of the malts are relinquished to an almost startling bitter palate with hops, alcohol and a clean charcoal astringency. This is a beautifully calculated move to allow the palate to bloom and develop, producing nice hot coccoa, hand brewed coffee and more generic flavors of caramel, toffee and some tobacco. Overall not a very shocking or interesting experience. The entire experience was predictable, but not in boring way, and more consistent with being comforting, reassuring and a feeling of being in your mothers warm embrace. A very solid rendition of a strong dark ale. Thoroughly well resourced which shows in the nose, the palate and the finish. Completely enjoyable! Goes on Favorites List!

Bottle. Black with a large creamy light brown head with good retention and lace. Rich and fat nose with chocolate, minerals, chalk, honey, dry flowers, green plants. Flavour follows the same lines; flowers, green plants, honey, fudge, chocolate, roasted malt, warming alcohol. Full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, sweet with bitterness and alcohol to balance. Rich and warming. Good.

Pullo @ Alko.
