Bracia is the Celtic name for a beverage brewed in Iron Age Europe with reference found on a Roman inscription at Haddon Hall,Derbyshire. Little is known about this except it was high in alcohol, brewed with cereals and, most probably, honey. Thornbridge’s Bracia has been infused with a generous amount of dark and bitter Chestnut Honey. This was sourced by Head Brewer Stefano Cossi from Beekeeper Onelia Pin in the Alpine foothills of North East Italy. Aromas are of chestnut, honey, cappuccino, white chocolate, dark fruits, vibrant fresh peel. The mouthfeel is velvety and rich, with notes of coffee, chocolate, liquorice and hazelnuts with warming alcohol, cocoa and a little peat in the finish. Malts: Maris Otter, Brown, Munich, Dark Crystal, Black, Chocolate, Peated and Roasted Barley. Hops: Target, Pioneer, Hallertau Northern Brewer and Sorachi Ace. Bracia can be cellared for up to one year, maybe longer. Its flavours will evolve so why not enjoy the experience of opening a bottle every once in a while.

Bottle, 2015 vintage. Thanks to wombata. Very rich dark fruit nose, a bit nutty, with dark sugar and some alcohol fumes. Dark brown color, flat. Mild chocolate, small bit of berries, sweet cake, licorice, and marshmallows. Medium-heavy body, and very smooth. Lots of complexity and balanced. Great.

UPDATED: JAN 14, 2018 Aroma: dry fruits, chocolate covered cherries, some paper/anise/liquorice notes. Taste: nothing much more than paper/anise/liquorice. Beer has really good head, average carbonation.

UPDATED: JAN 13, 2018 Couleur noir foncé. Nez splendide sur le café et des notes de miel. Bouche intense, tourbée, avec une finale d'une longueur fabuleuse.

Bottle share at Mon Petit Cafe Stuttgart. Sweet, dense, herbal. Some honey notes, some toffee.

Cokemonkey11 (1123) - - DEC 4, 2017
Bottle. Black with a generous ruby hued amber foam. Scent is strong notes of dark fruit character. Very central European. Taste is consistent, fairly mild, smooth, and warming. Dark fruit. Toffee. Raisins. Mouth feels quite dense yet the mild flavor profile is appreciated. A bit of sour notes. Excellent, if mild.

Simply outstanding! Lovely black pour w/ a thin mocha head that leaves good lacing. The aroma really shows off the honey as well as dark malt & chocolate. The flavor is dominated by roasted notes but it's deep & complex. Thick & chewy on the palate. This is an experience & a must try! Bravo!
