Cask (gravity) Newark Beer Festival,Spring 2009 and (handpull) Royal Oak Ockbrook, late Spring 2009. The recipe was tinkered with between these rates; the rough cocoa-powder nose mellowed, a hint of spicy orange lingers, some charcoal edges come to the fore. Sessionable, just. A rich dark mahogany colour with a great beige head. The aroma is a stunning blend of chocolate, earthy malt and some lively mandarin on top. The flavour is rich chocolate and tobacco with the fruit coming at you at 100 miles per hour in the finish. Bloody lovely all round.

Clear dark brown color with a average, fizzy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, chocolate, cacao. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. Soft smooth and very easy to drink.
Cask, Newark Fest 09. Dark brown with a bubbly beige foam. Aromas are chocolate and coffee with some nuttiness. Quite hoppy. Flavours are gritty malts and cocoa powder with earthy light coffee and a light nutty notes. Quite hoppy on the finish. A decent mild.

Cask in the market porter. Alround rating: Chocolate malts, fresh fleshy mandarin comes in just as you swallow and theres a nice leafy fresh hop comes in just at the same time they compliment each other soo well. Perfect balance, exstremly tasty. Best mild this year! RichardGretton (4861) - Leicestershire, ENGLAND - MAY 23, 2009
