Bottled Dec 2011. Black, small tan head doesn’t last. Aroma - strong piney minerally hop character, smokey malts. Body - medium to big, smooth with a touch of carbonation. Taste - strong roasted barley, liquorice concentrate, more pine, dry salty finish. Lovely strong savoury beer. I think this one would continue improving over the next few years - this hasn’t reached its peak yet.

Bottle at barely legal tasting room . Pours black , good white head . Smell is mostly bitter , also a bit sweet , and an undertone of roast-sourness . Taste is full , roasted , bitter , coffee , oats and toffee . Thick mouthfeel . Soft-as-silk taste , that gets way intenser towards the taste .

Bottle to pint glass Toffee, soy, raisin, blackstrap molasses, whiskey, blackcurrant, salt, and malt. Pours a dark black with no head and a little effervescence. Dark chocolate, coffee, bread, a touch of anise, and bitterness. Full bodied and creamy with a nice warming.

guzgorog (916) - FRANCE - JAN 9, 2014
