Bottle. Pours dark brown. Aroma is light coffee, big liquorice, caramel, toffee and light chocolate. Taste is moderate sweet and moderate bitter. Full bodied and quite thick texture. antonstoop (295) - - DEC 23, 2013
A black beer, with a light brown average head. In the nose there is, light chocolate, light coffee, liquirish, malty and light salty. It is a full bodied beer, with a fine but light carbonation. In the taste the salty liquirish is the most prominant taste. In the background there are roasted malts, light stingy and alcohol. The aftertaste is light bitter, coffee and liquirish, stays long.

Clear dark ruby red, almost black with hughe brown foam head, leaving drinking rings. Aroma is nice bitter stout like. Tastes real bitter cold coffee, some licorice, some roasted nuts. Nice beer. (Utrecht 201312) MarcoDL (4918) - NETHERLANDS - DEC 14, 2013
Sticky and sirupy beer. Thick sweet body of chocolate and malt, you could eat it with a fork. Sarlacc83 (2287) - Portland, Oregon, USA - DEC 7, 2013
Bottle from Todd. Thanks!
A: Black like an abyss with a creme head. Good legs.
N: Tons of colar, licorice, some cocoa, what I think is rosemary (or sage), rye, peppercorn, and cedar.
T: Peppery to the max. With a lot of wood elements. A touch of sourness.
M: Oily and medium-heavy. Sticky.
O: A strange bird. It’s all over the place in terms of flavor. Big bitterness over big malt.

The trifeca! Bottle thanks to Todd. The third incarnation of this most ancient and venerable of Stouts. Pours a nice dark mahogany color with a medium beige head. A big nose of sweet malts, candies and nuts. The flavor borders between bitterness and very sweet malty profiles, almost glue like intensity, round sweet malt throughout, light roasted chestnuts. Interesting. Unusual. Very different than the Courage I’ve had from the 1970s. I still liked it. Holmen1 (5867) - Stavanger, NORWAY - NOV 28, 2013
So smooth, og saftig i tillegg. Et trestjerners klasseøl, life is good indeed. gunnar (9085) - Sandnes, NORWAY - NOV 26, 2013

Dark brown color, small brown head. Aroma of toasted malts and licorice. Full-bodied. Salted licorice, toasted malts, light sweet note, backing hops. Brilliant! zacgillbanks (5169) - Tyne & Wear, ENGLAND - NOV 15, 2013
Bottle from Coppers, Newcastle. This very dark brown beer pours with a rapidly disappearing bright tan head. It has sweet red fruit and oak flavours, leather and marzipan notes, with slight smoke with more deep red fruit and a roasted coffee finish. Fantastic!
