Bottle at the Euston Tap, shared with the boys behind the bar. Pours black-brown with a fine, beige head. Lots of new oak in the nose with mild hard alcohol, roasted malts and cocoa. Big sweet flavor with dark fruits, dark malts, understated roast, dark sugar, alcohol, wood. Full bodied and chewy with fine carbonation. Mild warmth to finish with light roast, cocoa, dark earth, light peat. Pretty awesome beer overall. fiulijn (20515) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 1, 2013

Pitch black color, with medium sized brownish creamy head. The aroma is mild but nice and elegant, with dark chocolate and cocoa powder. Full bodied, with strong flavor of dark chocolate, very good, with some roasted malts; but there is also a trace of liquorice, and it’s quite salty; these two last characteristics being not so exciting; correct bitterness.
It’s indeed a very good beer, tastes like a classic brew.
Sehr dunkelbrauens, fast schwarzes Bier mit geringer bräunlichen Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr röstmalzig, Kaffee, Schokolade, holzig. Geschmack intensiv röstmalzig, holzig, Kaffe, Schokolade, leicht alkoholisch.
