Dark porter without foam. Notes of choclat, raisins. Also a little bit roasty. The blackberries add a special fruity taste.

Bottle shared at cgarvieuk’s tasting. Black pour, medium frothy off-white head with sparse lacing. Big roast nose, hint of coffee grounds, very subtle blackberry fruit. Slightly dark chocolate front, quite roasty and dry, again very subtle blackberry notes, nicely creamy. Blackberry becomes more prominent in the finish, chocolate too and a touch of dry roast. Very nice.

In bottle at Craigs. Pours a very dark brown colour with a fair tan head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, roasty malt and caramel. Similar flavours with just a hint of blackberry. Mild carbonation and bitterness with lingering burnt toast and blackberries again. Lovely!

[330ml bottle, The Bottle Shop, Canterbury] Pours deep burgundy brown, with a thin, off-white head. Interesting to compare to regular Evenlode, which I loved on cask. Very similar – the rich, sweet mocha element is there, nutty and with some faint raisin. On the finish, the blackberries do come out – they are quite mild, but definitely in evidence. Really enjoyed this. On balance, I’d still prefer the original, but both are excellent [22052012]

UPDATED: MAR 11, 2012 4/III/2012 33cl bottle @ ACBF (Moen) - bottled: IX/2011 (2012-203)

Clear dark purple to black beer, no head. Aroma: sweet mocha, whisky, mussels (salty, vegetable touch), coffee. MF: soft carbon, full body. Taste: mocha start, fruity, black currants, blackberry jam, come citrus. Aftertaste: mocha, fruity, coffee. Pretty good stuff. If I were a porter/stout fan, I’d really dig this.

Bottle @ ACBF 2012: dark brown to light black with a tanned head, smells like coffee, touch roasted chocolate malts, caramel & light indefinable berries; tastes like medium bitter coffee, chocolate malts, dark fruits, light roasted malts, touch chocolate, finish touch fruity & cold coffee, I can also pick out touch light berries among the fruits, if you are looking for blueberries, you can get it but no real definite blackberries, medium bodied, quite good but expecting lots of lackberries, tad letdown in that department
