COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask & bottle; Special.
The Heather Honey Stout was brewed using a single temperature infusion mash, utilising a complex malt grist including English chocolate, brown and peated malts. English Fuggles, American Palisade and Willamette hops were chosen for a fruity and earthy finish. Additionally, we added in locally-sourced heather honey from Sheffield Honey Company. The Stout was initially matured for 6 months: a third in brsnd new French oak casks, a third in Pedro Ximinez sherry casks and a third in former red Bordeaux wine casks. The beer was then blended back together and conditioned for a further period to allow the flavours to meld. It has been conditioned in bottle using Champagne yeast and more heather honey. The Stout pours near-black with a tan head, giving aromas of heather, oak, coffee, chocolate and liquorice. The mouthfeel is incredibly rich with full and complex flavours of lavender, raisins and dark chocolate gained from the marriage of the beer, heather honey and extensive barrel aging. The result is an astonishingly luxurious beer which can be savoured now or enjoyed in a few years time.

Bottle 50 CL. Pours dark black with brown white head. Notes of raisins, coffee, dark chocolate. Abit too harsh with too much of bitterness. But still wery good.

Bottle 50 cl, BBE 11.12.2017. Pours black in color with a thick creamy tan head. First there’s some old leather, bit of stable, hmm, guessing that’s the heather honey, but then some burnt and roasted notes with some dark chocolate appears in aroma. Raisins and dark chocolate in taste. Oily texture. There’s also some additional sweeter notes, but they they get overpowered with the bitterness from the chocolatey notes. Quite smooth overall and yet another good one from Thornbridge.

UPDATED: JUL 25, 2013 Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours black with a dirty tan head leaving superb lacing. Looks mighty fine. Nose shows sweet and thick honey, leather, molasses, chocolate. Taste is meaty stuff. Sweetness from the honey never takes over. Heavy dark fruits and chocolate, with a focus on raisins. Quite tarty from some berries with some sticky sweet honey. Drinks superbly for 10%. Great beer

50cl, new exclusive English brew Anno 2012, with honey, from Beers of Europe Setchey, very complex Stout, roasted/woody and slightly spicy/floral, not too heavy, balanced, cloudy, good head, very good brew, yet expensive!

Pours pitch black. Some sweet hints of honey. Roasted, some hints of chocolate and some taste of red wine. I can’t get a solid grip of this, having trouble to define its position in regards of taste and appearance, although it being a great beer. Could imagine drinking this instead of a wine to a good meal.

500mL bottle, pours black with a medium brown head. Aroma is full of tobacco, wood and burnt roasted malt - don’t get any honey on the nose. Flavour brings out loads of highly roasted malt, some raisins, then the honey kicks in full out, ending on notes of burnt roasted malt. Quite full-bodied with the honey adding an usual element that takes a while to get used to, but is very complementary. Great stuff.

Hand bottle from PBF, thanks veliempojot

Pours pitch black with a tiny head. Aroma of bready and roasty malts, root beer, some licorice and honey. Taste is sweetish, spicy, roasty and bready with notes of root beer, licorice and honey. Finish is sticky, spicy and roasty with some root beer notes. A bit untypical and strange.
