Cask, keg & bottle; Regular.

A citrus dominated India Pale Ale, its immediate impression is soft and smooth yet builds to a crescendo of massive hoppiness accentuated by honey. An enduring, bitter finish.

Cask (gravity dispense)@Beer Hunters
Slightly hazy yellow color, small white head. Very intensive honeyish, resiny, trefoil-flowery aroma. Hoppy, flowery flavor with hints of honey. Very long hoppy aftertaste. I wonder why this stylish IPA is ESB here?

500mL bottle, pours pale golden yellow. Aroma of citrus and piney hops, with a soapy quality. Flavour follows this exactly, with just enough malt backing. Improves hugely after a while. Excellent example of an English IPA. Delicious.

Bottle. Hazy yellow with medium off-white head. Flavour is malt, hops, citrus, bitter, little pine, little caramel and a little floral.

Oakes (17274) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 11, 2010
Straw colour. Nice loose foam. The aroma mixes some strong citrus and papaya with integrated butter, even a hint of pine. Fresh, bitter, piney beer with light diacetyl. Halfway between a hoppy bitter and a Seattle IPA, and a little bit of neither.

Cask at Horsens Beerfestival. Clear, pale golden-yellow with a small white head. Pine, hops and pineapplenotes in the aroma. Medium body with a piny and hoppy flavor and a well-hopped finish. Sorry, it just didn’t get me, but it’s on my list of "have-to-try-again"s. (061028)

brokensail (16440) - Dublin, California, USA - SEP 25, 2012
Hazy golden color with a white head. Hop profile is herbal and slightly floral with a slight hint of citrus and grass. Fairly dry nose with just a bit of bread and toasted malt sweetness. The flavor is only midly sweet, too. A bit of bread, some cracker notes, and an okay hop profile. Light bitterness of citrus peel with a light grass flavor to go along with the floral and herbal hop flavors.

Dedollewaitor (16056) - Odense, DENMARK - APR 30, 2011
Cask @ C4, Odense. Pours cloudy yellow with a small creamy lasting head and lacings. Floral and citrussy nose. Fresh , doughy and crisp. Smooth with a dry and bitter end. Funky fresh!

UPDATED: NOV 16, 2015 Cask (Gallows Bird, Espoo, Real Ale Festival 2007) (8:3:8:4:15=3.8)
Floral and grapefruity aroma by the bucketful.Taste to match, full of bitterness and malt. Doesn’t taste 5.9% at all.
Rerate: Keg (Pudel, Tallinn) (7:3:7:4:14)
A bit dead and dull compared to cask. Still nice, but no wow.
Rerate: Draught (Angleterre, Helsinki) (8:4:8:4:16=4.0)
There’s the wow! Just like I remember it first time, and if anything even better! Utterly delicious, so much character, and so drinkable too. Amazing.

UPDATED: FEB 1, 2007 Bottle, 5.9%. Cloudy golden colour. Soapy white head. Weak teaish hop aroma. Quite bitter hoppiness. So much aroma hops that it gets bitter and a bit rough. 6 3 6 3 15
Cask. Hazy golden colour. Quite hoppy aroma and flavour with an emphasis on flavour hops. 6 3 6 3 15

Benzai (15486) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - JUL 19, 2011
UPDATED: JAN 3, 2014 Re-rate January 3rd 2014. Bottle shared @ Van Moll with Stefan and Erwin van Moll. Clear pale golden color, full sized white head that lasts for a long time. Aroma and taste are lightly malts, hops, nicely bitter but also lightly buttery. Dry finish, average body and carbonation. -- Old rating: I believe I had this at Alvinne CBF 2011. Far from my best IPA’s. Though I admit, coming from England it’s not bad. I just miss the strong almost overpowering hops and (grape)fruit in these type of IPA’s. Not bad, but nowhere near my favorite ones. [Original rating: 6-3-7-3-13].
