On keg. Appearance - black with a red hue. Nice head. Nose - roast and dark chocolate. Struggling to find the vanilla. Taste - perhaps a faint vanilla note since Im really searching for it. Again dark chocolate. Palate - medium bodied at most with a creamy texture and a dry finish. Overall - good beer but not great by Thornbridge standards.

Scopey (13309) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 23, 2014
Cask at the Euston Tap. It pours darkest brown with a medium beige head. The nose is soft roast, toast, sweet vanilla, cream and milk chocolate. The taste is roasted malt, toast, earth, peppery, cocoa, mild acidity and coffee, but not much vanilla. Dry-bitter finish. Good deal of bitterness about it. Medium body and fine carbonation. Solid.

Cask Pint at Wibbas Down (JDW), Wimbledon, London in Jan 2013 - Pitch Black in colour. Very Malty; loads of vanilla, roasty malts, caramel, notes of chocolate and roast coffee. Fruity; some dark fruits, berries. Hoppy; earthy hops. Nice malt/fruit/hop balance. Creamy. Smooth. Creamy vanilla roast malty throughout. Very Nice Stout!

Cask (Angleterre, Helsinki)
Lovely chocolatey aroma. Dang, this is another classic chocolate stout as a real ale, thats the only context where I really like the doping, and only if kept subtle. Light fruity esters keep it interesting. Refreshing palate despite the sweetness. None of the stickiness less subtle chocolate-laced brews have. The finish is a touch hoppy too, but mostly the choco roast lovely.
