Cask at CBC Clerkenwell, thanks to Fergus for the share. Dark brown / black / cola colour, still, very little head. Aroma is chocolate, vanilla, soft smoke. Body is medium to light, smooth, low carbonation. Taste is light malts, chocolate syrup, twiggy finish. Nice smell, taste is a touch weak.

Cask at the craft beer co. Aroma is woody roast, creamy vanilla, choc, tangy choc. Dark reddy brown coloured pour with a lasting mid tan head. Flavour is composed of woody toasty, roast, vanilla. Palate is milky, low carbonation. OK. Weird varnish tamg in the finish.

Aroma is more vanilla and coffee than chocolate, although others detect it. A black ale with little top to speak of. But some lace persists. Festival ales from barrel tap have a flatness which may accentuate what might be there anyway. For a vanilla stout this tastes pleasantly balanced with the roast malts holding their own. This even allows a nutty quality to creep in at the back edge of the palate. Overall better than most which is high praise for a man who is more bitter/porter/mild than stout inclined. And good to se Thornbridge doing rather than relying on the pale profits.

ManVsBeer (10927) - Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, ENGLAND - FEB 26, 2015
Cask @ Old Gate, Hebden Bridge. Nearly black with a small creamy, slightly off-white head. Not a very stated stout, but it’s thinnish taste may account for this, as well as its fairly easy drinking texture for 5%. There’s hardly any roasted malt in this and its sweetness is low.

teorn88 (7687) - Rimini, ITALY - FEB 17, 2015
Cask at The Rake, London. It pours a dark brown color with a small tan head. Aroma is sweet and roasty, with notes of toasted bread, espresso, dark chocolate and lactose. Taste is medium sweet with more dark chocolate, lactose, roasted malts. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Overall, ok sweet stout

Cask at the hanging bat. Pours dark brown, thick, lingering tan head. Aromas of vanilla and coffee. Taste is more cold coffee and charcoal. Vanilla doesn’t carry through so well. Nice creamy texture though.
