Cask from the stags head, Sheffield. Pitch opaque black with a nice stodgy tan(ish) head. Sweet smell of vanilla and coffee. Same taste, sweet and slightly bitter. Nice tingle on the tongue. Lovely. MesandSim (7117) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 17, 2008
A Mes rate: Bottle picked up by Sim somewhere in Chesterfield.Awesome appearance. Close to pitch black with a thick and creamy cappucino head. Dusky malty aroma with a ton of coffee and slight hints of vanilla. My god this is gorgeous. Perfectly weighted. Superb Thornbridge stoutiness with clear but not overpowering vanilla. Stunning chocolate and heavy coffee bean notes, perfectly dry and a stunning balancing bitterness in the finish that lasts considerably. Delicately roasted, perfect level of carbonation. Damn. This is adorable stuff. jamesie1857 (1980) - Sheffield, South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - DEC 1, 2012
On Cask @ Coach and Horses, Dronfield - absolutely certain I’d had this in 2012 already, a classic stout look, jet vlack with a tan head that laces all the way through. The smoothness is there for all to see all the way through the drink, the vanilla notes are there before, during and after with this one... like a black liquid ice-cream. Class in a glass. rlgk (18844) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - JAN 15, 2012
Cask at The Rake, London. Black beer with a small lasting beige head. Coffee and chocolate aroma, licorice, roasted, some smoke. Chocolate flavor, vanilla, licorice, coffee notes, hoppy. Bitter chocolate finish. minutemat (6063) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - JUL 27, 2017
Cask @ Salopian. Pours deep dark brown, small beige head. Sweet aroma of vanilla, chocolate. Room temp seems to not affect this too much. Very smooth and creamy on the palate with a good vanilla / chocolate character. Nice.

Bottle picked up from their tap near Sheffield, by my dad, cheers dad, had this 28-12-07 Pours almost black but not quite on holding it to the light it actually is just a very dark brown with a nice white head, with osme bubbles around the side of the glass. Aroma is slightly malty but with the best will in the world I failed to get much else on the nose. Taste was first off great bitterness snd the realy lovely roasted malts but there is a tantalising creaminess and with an old fashioned flavour of vanilla one that reminds me of those old Walls blocks of cornish Ice cream in short lovely it even manages to finish a bit dry, another top notch beer from Thornbridge Hall, loved this! asheft (3108) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 2, 2010
[bottle @ RBESG 2009, Grand Tasting]
Nice toasted almond-vanilla aroma with some dark malt accents. Clear garnet black with a white ring. Tons of vanilla in the flavour, followed by roasted coffee, chocolate, and a dark malt bitterness. Light body, moderate carbonation, very slightly bitter finish.
