Cask at CBC - Clerkenwell, London. Pours black-brown with a fine, beige foam head. Some dry cocoa in the aroma, some burnt wood, raisins. Medium to big sweet flavor with dark and dry wood, marshmallows, light toffee, moderate char, dark sugars, baking cocoa. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Mild warmth in the finish, nice oak notes, dry wood, light earthy bitterness, further baking cocoa. Great beer. Good balance, well rounded. Cask at Cask Pub & Kitchen. It pours hazy very dark brown with a small beige head. The nose is big on the oak, roasted malt, treacle, salted caramel, touch of chocolate, ash and liquorice. The taste is caramel, wood, leather, very dry, treacle, liquorice, roasted malt, big alcohol warmth, salty edge, spice, milk chocolate, bitter earthiness and ash with a dry, warming finish. Full body and soft carbonation. A challenging beer indeed. I personally feel that the oak character consumes the base beer. Mid black with a thin tan head that clears to the edge after a short time.
Nose is dark roast malts, wood tones, bitter chocolate, booze.
Taste comprises roast malt, leather, molasses, dark chocolate, wood, booze.
Full bodied with soft carbonation, slightly dry and definately boozey in the finish.

Cask in Craft Brixton. Opaque black thin off white head. Nose is lactic, milky, lots of vanilla, dark chocolate, bit of roasted. Taste is dark chocolate, lots of vanilla, lactic, oak wood. It’s very smooth and well balanced. Not overpowering at all. Very little to no carbonation.
