Light black with a good sized dirty tan head that dissipates to a swirl and edgeing.
Nose is light roast, earthy, toffee, subtle whisky, spice, liqourice.
Taste comprises chocolate, spice, light whisky, woody notes, chocolate maltesers.
Medium + body, fine carbonation, light warming alcohol in the close.

Bottle thanks to Colin /reluctantscoop. It pours near black with a small tan head. The nose is sweet, earth, vanilla, whisky, milk chocolate and maltesers. The taste is smooth, sweet, milk chocolate, biscuit, whisky, malteser, earth, warming alcohol and medicinal with a long toasty finish. Fullish body and fine carbonation. Pretty decent. Bottle shared in London - many thanks to the Reluctant Scooper and Colin. Pours rich black-brown with a creamy tan head. The nose has some smoked meat, dark malts, cocoa. Medium to big sweet flavor with some burnt earth, charred meat, vanilla, dark bread, earth, baking cocoa. Full bodied with fine carbonation. [ Courtesy of Phil / Kelly ]. Clear dark black brown color with a large, creamy, excellent lacing, fully lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, coffee, wood - oak, light notes of vanilla, licorice notes. Flavor is heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, salty, whisky notes. Body is medium to full, texture is oily - sticky, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light to moderate alcoholic - whisky. 
Bottled at RBESG 2007. A dark brown beer with a brownish head. The aroma is sweet with notes of whiskey, malt, and some roasted malt. The flavor too sweet for my liking with notes of wood, roasted malt, leading to a dry woody finish. The whiskey burns slightly in the throat.

By far the best whisky aged beer I’ve had. By quite a stretch, I didn’t care for some of the others I’ve had. In fact I fucking hated the bastards. I debated about how to rate this. You see there are actually three of these. One aged in a speyside whiskey (8%) one aged in a highland whiskey (9%) and the last one aged in a Islay whiskey (10%). I did a tasting of all three and they all have different characters. This rating is for the Islay which was the best of teh lot.
Pours Black with nice sized tan head. The aroma has definate whiskey flavours. The peat and salt of the Islay whiskey (Coal Ila) is clearly evident. The taste brings out more of the usual stout attributes with nice sweetness of caramel and chocolate along with some good bitterness in the finish. Thanks to the guys at the brewery for holding these back for me.

Bottle National Winter Beer Festival, Manchester 2008 courtesy of Craig, cheers mate! Poured black, quite thick and sweet looking, unlike the Paradox tried on cask at this event this didn’t have such a robust whisky aroma, it was there, but it had to jockey for position with some chocolate and cream. The taste was wonderfully warming as the whisky was starting to assert itself, but the milky chocolate flooded through again, quite heavenly and moreish. Hazy dark brown pour. Light off-white head. Peaty, roasty nose with potent espresso notes. It has a certain minty suggestion to it that confirms the whisky barrelling. Light woody tartness and earthiness conclude the otherwise not so tasty palate that barely offered coffee laden roasted malts. bottled, rbesg07. pretty close to black. aroma of whipped cream, cocoa powder and a hint of whisky smokiness. luscious texture, coffee, vanilla cream, tasty indeed
