Keg at Friends of Ham. Tasted with a horrible cold, so a slight pinch of salt required. Pours a murky brown, small head. Aroma is dark ripe fruit, banana, figs, spice, cloves. Taste is similar - figs, dark fruits, spicy banana and earthy. Medium body, maybe just a tad too fizzy. Its perfectly nice, but sadly every time I drank it, I ended up thinking that Id rather be drinking an Aventinus instead. Damn me and my Aventinus fetish, I dont want to feel like that!

Scopey (14218) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 25, 2013
Keg at Pivni, York. It pours cloudy deep brown with a thick beige head. The nose is over-ripe banana, toffee, raisin, rich-tea biscuits. The taste is banana bread, toffee, cereal, toasted, earth, spice and light alcohol with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Solid, well-rounded weizenbock.

Nocturne (1973) - Cheshire, ENGLAND - APR 11, 2013
Keg at PSBH, Manchester. Very hazy reddish brown shade with cream head. Aroma with notes of yoghurt and bubblegum but its the banana character that puts me off. It just smells too much like a rubbish bin on a hot day to me. No wrong notes in the taste fortunately. Apple and berry fruity with toffee. I wanted to like this and appreciate the effort but it wasnt really for me on this occasion.

On keg at Cross Scythes, Norton Lees - Wow! This is a cracker... if you like bananas anyway. Big nose of yeast and bananas, bit of ripe fruit, but mainly the bendy yellow herb-cum-fruit. In the taste, a rich bready hit, followed by thick sweet banana again. The look isnt that good, brown and sludgy, with a thin fast gone head, but the nose and taste? Bang!
