Draught at the Euston Tap, London on 13 April 2013. Poured a murky dark brown with a halo of white head. Aroma of banana essence, toffee, cloves and wheat. Flavours of sweet berries, barley sugar and wheat. Finish was biscuity malt, dry straw and some light grassy hop. Yves (3097) - Turnhout, BELGIUM - AUG 31, 2013
Draught at Sheffield Tap. Black coloured beer with small white head and no carbonation visible. Malty fruited aroma with some chocolate hints. Medium palate. Finish is sweet metallic ending bitter. FaithHealer1 (358) - SCOTLAND - AUG 16, 2013
Keg at Friends of Ham. Tasted with a horrible cold, so a slight pinch of salt required. Pours a murky brown, small head. Aroma is dark ripe fruit, banana, figs, spice, cloves. Taste is similar - figs, dark fruits, spicy banana and earthy. Medium body, maybe just a tad too fizzy. It’s perfectly nice, but sadly every time I drank it, I ended up thinking that I’d rather be drinking an Aventinus instead. Damn me and my Aventinus fetish, I don’t want to feel like that! Half pint at Sheffield Tap. Tasty, malty, with wheat and caramel notes, a nice blend. Very dark red with a creamy-frothy head. Attractive aroma. Scopey (15290) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 25, 2013
Keg at Pivni, York. It pours cloudy deep brown with a thick beige head. The nose is over-ripe banana, toffee, raisin, rich-tea biscuits. The taste is banana bread, toffee, cereal, toasted, earth, spice and light alcohol with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Solid, well-rounded weizenbock. Nocturne (1992) - Cheshire, ENGLAND - APR 11, 2013
Keg at PSBH, Manchester. Very hazy reddish brown shade with cream head. Aroma with notes of yoghurt and bubblegum but it’s the banana character that puts me off. It just smells too much like a rubbish bin on a hot day to me. No wrong notes in the taste fortunately. Apple and berry fruity with toffee. I wanted to like this and appreciate the effort but it wasn’t really for me on this occasion. hopbomber (90) - Manchester, Greater Manchester, ENGLAND - APR 6, 2013
Keg at common mcr. Schneider Aventinus clone? Creamy banana and fig flavour full bodied rich taste murky brown/red with nice foam head. As good as aventinus and its from a local brewer. Potent stuff. jamesie1857 (2273) - Sheffield, South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - MAR 24, 2013
On keg at Cross Scythes, Norton Lees - Wow! This is a cracker... if you like bananas anyway. Big nose of yeast and bananas, bit of ripe fruit, but mainly the bendy yellow herb-cum-fruit. In the taste, a rich bready hit, followed by thick sweet banana again. The look isn’t that good, brown and sludgy, with a thin fast gone head, but the nose and taste? Bang!
