brugmanneke (283) - GERMANY - FEB 17, 2013
(tap - keg) Amber coloured, hazy, with an average fizzy white head and good lacing. Intense citrus aroma, mainly lemon and lime, but grapefruit as well. Even some passion fruit/tropical fruit and freshly-mown grass. But the lemon peel is quite dominant. Moderate bitterness, light acidic flavour, long finish with loads of hops remaining on the palate. Light to medium body, dry texture, slightly sticky, lively carbonation. Delicious. I can’t believe how lemony this is!

Bottle. Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield. As "Bear State". Clear gold. Bubbly, messy, lasting, white head. Lovely, fusty orange. Peach. Pine resin. Something a little tart, along the lines of red gooseberry. The sweetness comes across as vanilla, and chewy toffee. Zesty, fruity, sweet, and smelling fantastic. Drinks soft, chewy, spicy, fruity bitter. Full bodied, but fresh. Finishes lingering, slightly chewy bitter. Lovely.

Tselloufc88 (350) - Coventry, West Midlands, ENGLAND - MAY 31, 2015
Bottle from Beer Gonzo, Coventry (sold as Bear State) strong pine, tropical, grapefruit aroma. Tastes of peach, citrus, pine, strong bitter finish. All the hallmarks of a classic West Coast IPA. Delicious. Another Thornbridge winner.

Bottle from Ruprai, Brum. Lovely, delicious IPA. It reminded me of being shrunk (perhaps during a hilariously mismanaged scientific experiment), then placed inside a bottle of orange, lemon and pineapple squash; then yawning a neutrino hop. Just like that actually.

bartlebier (3982) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - MAY 26, 2016
As Bear State - West Coast IPA. 500ml bb08/2016, Geers. Bref: introduces boastful West Coast hop zest and pine character to a lovely spongecake of British maltiness. - Radiantly floral and zesty bouquet: lime leaf, sweet pine, Thai basil, pineapple. Love the round, near chewy mouthfeel, blond malts suffused with hop goodness like a sponge(cake), releasing: sweet pink grapefruit, dried zest, wet pine (bark) and a lovely pineapple sweetness running underneath along with a hard-to-pinpoint earthiness before the orange marmelade finish. - Love the British balance, not a Californian IBU club hammer.

aussiealchemist (52) - Berwick Victoria, AUSTRALIA - MAY 29, 2017
Sold as Bear State on tap at Black Isle Bar, Inverness. Pours gold/amber with full white head that persists. Aroma citrus, tropical fruits and peach. Taste is quite sweet and luscious, dominated by fruity US hops but also caramel malts noticeable. Alcohol is well disguised in the full body. Not much residual hop bitterness. Overall a really good West Coast IPA. Highly recommend.

Prima ipa.

Leighton (21236) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 7, 2012
Keg at CPK, London. Pours clear, orange-gold with a fine, white cream head. Lovely dry pine and orange nose. Very smooth flavor, well rounded, light to medium sweet with touches of pine, toasted malts, orange and grapefruit. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Lightly resinous finish, great balance, moderate sweetness, pleasant hop kick of pine, lightly toasted grass, tangerine and grapefruit. Excellent IPA.

spacecube (1717) - Leeds, West Yorkshire, ENGLAND - MAR 31, 2015
500ml bottle, as Bear State, from beeritz. Dry biscuit malt and subtle citrus in the nose, pink grapefruit and lime, zesty sherbety middle leading into a finish that has perfect balance, light dry bitterness on the finish, very crisp. Light medium bodied, texture is oily. So easy to drink, the bottle was gone in no time.

mt_hall (201) - Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - MAY 24, 2015
Bottled. A slightly hazy, gold/amber colour with a small off-white head. A good, fresh hoppy aroma, with some fruit and some resin. Big body in the mouth. Lots of dry, hoppy resin flavours, with a slightly earthy, bitter finish. Well balanced, clean, with nice warmth from the alcohol. Very good.
