Originally released a for the Chesterfield CAMRA festival.
Renamed as Wild Raven in 2013 due to another beer going by the name "Raven" elsewhere
The recipe for the brew came from James Kemp, who joined the team a few months ago. Previously crowned the New Zealand Home Brewing Champion in 2008 and winner of a Liberty Award, Kemp used Maris Otter, Black Patent and Chocolate malt along with Nelson Sauvin, Centennial and Sorachi hops.
The beer, called Raven, has bitterness and hop character and plenty of malt flavours to give it complexity.
James moved on to Buxton brewery and is now a freelance brewer

Pours black. Aroma is hoppy dark fruits. Taste is clean, roasty, citrus and blackcurrant hop flavour. Black IPAs arent my go to beer by choice but well balanced

More complex than Brewdog Black IPA, little aroma for an IPA. Bitterness is forward with liquorice and herbs, lacks sweet malt. So sour complex interesting and red.

GemmeDeReve (118) - FRANCE - DEC 22, 2016
Bière brune avec pas mal de mousse, odeur d’agrumes, pétillante en bouche, amertume en bouche, pas trop le goût d’une brune, juste ce qu’il faut très bonne bière dans une belle quantité

Bottle and on tap. Pours light dark, with beige head. Aroma is hops, dark malts. It tastes of fresh hops, with sweets malts and a bit of coffee. Very good and drinkable. Recommended.

[email protected] Black a bit reddish color with off-white head. Aroma has citrus, caramel, malt and tropical fruits. Taste is malty with quite long bitter and dry aftertaste. Flavors of malt, citrus, pine and coffee. Nice combination.

Bottle 50cl. Brune foncé à mousse beige crémeuse. Nez : houblonné, agrumes, citra, pêche, vanille, un peu de caramel. Bouche : légèrement pétillante, fraîche, douce avec du grillé, du résineux et une très longue amertume. Good.
