3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours dark brown with thin tan head. Dark chocolate and roasted malt aromas, with a hint of yeast. The flavours are smooth and rich. Roasted malt dominate the mouthful, with bitter coffee flavours also strong. Dark chocolate and biscuit come through to sweeten each mouthful ever so slightly, but it is the bitter and burnt malt flavours which linger on the palate.
An unmemorable porter unfortunately. Nothing to right home about. Good head, and lacing. A bit grassy for a porter, and really thin. No rich or complex flavours as described on bottle. Rather bland and needs more

can. Black and poured with a big head that took some time to dissipate. Quite creamy with a medium body. Nothing exceptional but still a very easy to drink example of this style. zacgillbanks (5506) - Tyne & Wear, ENGLAND - AUG 8, 2015
Can from Glug, Newcastle. Very dark brown-black in colour with a large foamy white head. It has a chocolate and roasted coffee flavour followed by tart red fruit and a very dry burnt coffee finish. jamaty (2258) - Madrid, SPAIN - JUN 4, 2015
Coca-cola oscura. Ciertamente compleja e interesante. nihtila (3913) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - APR 25, 2015
Sample at Great Grog’s bottled beer festival. Aroma is roasted malts, sweet chocolate. There is not much taste, and some strange roasted and malty notes.

Not a bad English style porter with a nice roasted malts taste that went down pretty smoothly and was kept interesting by the addition of some good, earthy hops but on the downside the beer did seem a little light bodied in places. Overall this one was an enjoyable effort from Three Boys but in truth I’m not sure it’s one I’d be all that likely to pick up again soon.
