FoBAB 2008: (yep, this is the Hvedegoop on Oak IMO) ... Hazy coppery hue with a small but lasting foamy head and some lace. The aroma has notes of vanilla beans, oak, candi sugars, wheat husks, crystal malt, resiny piney hops, and some interesting peppery spices. The taste starts initially hot and boozy but mellows out more towards a wheat driven barleywine with a nice hop counterbalance. The oak only really shows towards the finish and once again there is a interesting spice notes detected as well (what the hell is that? Juniper, Grains of Paradise, some other exotic spice, hell I dunno!). Oily and aggressive initial mouth feel, smoother and lush toward the dryer ending. Among the more fascinating beers ever from FFF, I really am digging this. (Nick... bottle this!)

FoBAB 08. Pours a hazed copper with an off-white head. Smooth and sweet nose of vanilla, oak, dough, and a touch of ripe fruit. Similar flavors that are creamy and bready. The alcohol is noticeable but quickly fades into the juicy creaminess. Awesome, one of my favorite beers of the night.

Lubiere (14150) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 16, 2012
A hazed orange amber barley wine with a thin lacing off white head. In aroma, a beautiful vinous malt, with fragrant grassy hops, meaty, pungent, treacle malt, wow! In mouth, a nice balanced mix of vinous malt and floral hops, superb balanced and blended aged barley wine, restrained and smooth. Bieropholie import, about 2 years old. Tasted with Pushkinnow, Spinrsx, Brews Phillips, CFrancis and Ian, Jan. 14 2011, Bartowel Ottawa gathering.

FoBAB 08. Pours a hazy copper with a white head. Aroma of vanilla, heavy malt, caramel, and some oak. Solid beer. Still had a little bit of a hop profile. Interesting.

I heard it was on tap at Bone Dry and called to see and to my surprise it was so i live 10 minutes from there and on a cold sunday night a barrel aged Hvedegoop sounded good and it was with a big bourbon flavor and a nice white head with hints of oak caramel and a nice vanilla and spice finish to it with all kind of things going on with this beer,if you can get over to Bone Dry it would be worth a try.CHEERS!

sampled at FOBAB 2008... semi-transparent apple cider brown pour with a thick fluffy light tan head... caramel and toffee aroma with added bourbon and woody notes... maple, molasses, toffee, bourbon, and wood make up the flavors. smooth and creamy mouthfee. one of the better offerings on that day.

Bomber curtesy of Lubiere at the first ever Ottawa Bartowel tasting. Hazy amber with a biege head. Caramel, apricot, some hops, raisin, barley, vinous - very nice aroma. Mouthfeel is very pleasent and powerful, full bodied, surprisingly high carbonation. bittersweet and becomes more bitter, dry and raisin on the finish with vanilla. Bourbon is very mellow and this beer is very well done.

GeneralGao (3614) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - JAN 3, 2009
FoBAB 2008. Poured a clear dark orange color. Smelled of cotton candy, caramel, and booze. Medium bodied with light flowery hop, dried fruit, alcohol, and brown sugar flavors. The oak was pretty subtle.
