Scored a bomber for the "cellar" and got an opportunity to try the draft @ the pub a week later. [A] Very malt forward aroma, with caramel, and a hint of rye. Hops maintain a background presence, lending earthy citrus. [A] Red-brown, with off-white head into snifter. [F] Caramel bodied, with more of the rye character showing midway. Hoppiness is appropriate, keeping balance. [P] Very easy-going "rye wine". Smooth bodied. Just the right amount of bitter hops. [O] Last Rye Wine I had was Flossmoor Hi-Fi. Which I honestly think outdoes this effort. Nonetheless, this was quite an amazing one as well. I was very pleased with this collabo, and it is significantly better than the Oatgoop. Cant wait to try the barrel versions of both aforementioned brews.

Bottle @ MeadMe share, at Fermentoren. OG Batch. Light hazy copper pour with a tiny head. Tons of caramel, prunes, dark dried fruits, syrup, some oxidation and warming booze.

From bottle thanks to Martin! Pours a reddish hazy amber with a rather big, off white head. Aroma has lots of sweetish malts, sweet, overripe fruits, caramel malts, heavy spicy rye. Taste is sweet, fruity, fairly low bitterness. Average carbonation and a medium full body.

From notes. Enjoyed this one at the Brew Crew Bash in Ann Arbor on May 21. This one was poured from a 22 oz bottle. This one is really interesting. The pour is a dark orange, good bits of brown throughout, and a soapy light gray head that lingers and lingers. There is a pretty good lace left behind on this. The aroma is weird. There is a strong rye malt right up front, and an intense booziness. There is a little bready malt through to the finish, but the booziness really throws me. There is a light sugary sweetness before the oxidation really drowns the fine details out. The flavor is a good bit of the same. There is a lot more oxidation and a hefty booze here. The dark fruits try and fight through the bready malts, and just dont really succeed. Its got a little hop bitterness on the back end, but the booze controls it. The mouth feel is pretty decent. Its got a decent thickness and a softer carbonation to help this thing linger around on the palate. Not that youd want it to, since the aftertaste is sweet, sugary, booze. Im not a fan.

Bottle from 2010. Pour is deep orange/brown with a medium off-white head. Flavor and aroma of rye bread, caramel, fruit, pine needles, spice, and booze. Finish is sweet booze with hints of citrus hops. This one aged nicely.

Bottle. Pours a fizzy murky caramel amber color with a good soapy off white head that lasts. Aroma is spiced malt burnt caramel malt and candied sugar. Taste is slightly bitter burnt candied sugar spiced caramel malt and rye bread. Palate is medium slightly sticky and fizzy. Really enjoyable and its held up well! Bottle from trade, and is/was very well kept!

(2010 vintage) Slightly Hazy orange with a very light head. Nose is a burst of rye spice, some close and peppercorn. Big sweet nose and a slight oxidation. There is a ton of dark fruit in this beer. Pear, peach, apples and some darker fruits like fig. Lots of herbal spice and a whiskey finish. Spot on. Pretty darn delicious

Bottle cellar properly. Orange cloudy color. Aroma is a blast of sugar, raisin and rye malt. Hello sugar! Big sweetness.

The body is fuller with the rye really shining through. Caramel malt base. The secondary flavor of raisin, figs with a lingering bitter pine finish. Really pretty good for the age, drink them now because the oxidation is here but not ruining it, yet.

This one poured a hazy orange color with an off white head. araomw as of candy sugar, and orangey fruitiness. Flavor was similar, orangey and wheaty with really norye. Meh.

Bottle shared thanks to beerman6686. Pours a cloudy orange brown with a big off-white head. Aroma is of oranges. Quite strange. One of the weirder barleywines I have ever tasted. I am not sure what to think of it.

Bottle from the recent FFF overstock sales. I guess this was brewed August 2010. Murky orange pour. Spicy caramel candy taste. Touch of sweetness. More On the English barleywine side. Quite smooth and easy drinking. This seems to have come together nicely over a few years, better than the RIS and boo I had last summer.
