COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A beer for the end of ages brewed with our friends in the band Amon Amarth. This Aesir Porter is a robust and hearty beer brewed with local honey and a small portion of smoked malt. When Heimdall sounds the Giallar-horn this is the beer to be hoisted by the gods in anticipation of the coming battle.

Bottle shared with toffsbury. Pours jet-black with little head and a lot of particles. Gorgeous hoppy aroma. Really nice hoppy taste, with some roasted malt. Nice clean finish.. Medium-bodied with low carbonation. I’ve never had such a hoppy porter; great!

Pours black with a small brown head. Nose is coffee, almonds, anisette, bready cereal and alcohol notes. It’s very complex with the alcohol esters, but it doesn’t take away from it. Taste is a good balance of bittersweet, however it weighs in a little more on the bitter side. Mouthfeel is medium body, super sharp and crisp on the palate.

Picked this up directly at the brewery. Pours dark black/ brown, good film of khaki head and loads of residual sugary lacing on the glass walls. Aroma is that Three Floyds hop smell that I get with almost every brew initially, then it gives way to this roast and caramel malt with sweet almost buttery notes as well. Tastes chocolate bitter at first, there’s roast malt again and some booziness, but its smooth and not over powering. I really enjoyed this.

A - Pours a dark brown-black color with a finger of rothy khaki-chocolate colored head. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some nice lacing.

S - Aroma is a mix of roasted chocolate malts, dark fruit, smoke, black licorice, honey, coffee, and a touch of lactose sweetness.

T - Starts off with a mix of roasted chocolate malts with some dark fruit, some smoke, and some black licorice. Through the middle, some coffee comes through with some honey, and a bit of lactose sweetness. The finish is a mix of roasted milk chocolate malts, dark fruit, coffee, smoke, and a bit of honey.

M - Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with sweet, smokey, and warming finish.

D - Very drinkable. Nice imperial porter with good complexity, body, and overall balance.

Goblet consumed at the Three Floyds Brewpub on 4/15/2011.

AROMA: Smokiness and malt. I did not detect any honey.
APPEARANCE: Dark brown with light brown head and quite a bit of lacing.
TASTE: Starts sweet, roasty, malty, with a bitter finish.
PALATE: Medium bodied, with a creamy mouthfeel, yet oily too.
OVERALL: This was a great beer. If I hadn’t already purchased two growlers of Zombie Dust, I would have bought a growler of this. Try this one if you get a chance!

Had last night at The Bottom Lounge on tap. Great collaboration. Strong coffee and chocolate notes. Pours dark, opaque brown with a thin, tan head. Taste is robust. Different from a traditional porter, with more hops bitterness, but very delectable. Thick on the palate with a heavy finish. Overall, I would definitely recommend trying this Strong Porter. Very different from the rest of the Three Floyds main lineup.

Apr 23, tap @ 3F brewbar. ssPours black as night with great creamy brown head leaving nice lace. Great aroma of roasted malts, smoke, slightly sweet and soapy.  Fullbodied malty roasted mouthfeel. Smoked, roasted, sweet honey, fruity flavor. Lean fullbodied palate. Finishes longlived tart and slightly sweet.
