Bottle (two times actually; thanks benzai and meerbier). Beige head, dark brown beer. Not so overwhelming aroma as expected: roasted malts, yeast (diary), alcohol, dark chocolate, slightly sweet. A roasted bitter is coming up fast. Coffee, peppery spices and some sal ammoniac (salt candy). To be honest i think I prefer all those beers separate ...

Pours a clear and dark brown beer with a beige head. The aroma is malt, chocolate, sweetness, fruit, dried fruit, coffee, roasted and alcohol. The flavor follows the nose with additional bitterness. The palate is sticky with sweetness and bitterness. Overall a good beer.

meerbier (1474) - Pijnacker, NETHERLANDS - NOV 17, 2012
[email protected] Chocolate, vanilla, malts and milk aroma. Opaque, light brown head, good lace. Chocolate, vanilla, milk, salt, soy sauce, pretty bitter, super complex yet not over the edge, balanced.

Pours deep brown/black with a thick tan head...excellent retention and lacing. Aroma has bakers chocolate and mild dark fruit...notes of roastiness, raisin, and brown sugar. Flavor has roastiness and dark fruit with mild coffee and tobacco...aggressive but balanced nicely...hides ABV well. Mouthfeel is med/full with a roasty coffee sweet finish. Good but not as tasty as some of the parts...particularly Darkness.

650ml bottle [from trade with Madmitch76, thanks a lot Ken!] shared with Joes and Dutchdrebus. Opaque pitch black color, medium to full sized, lightly creamy, fair lacing, beige to slightly light brown head that lasts for a decent while. Smell roasted malts, dark malts, a hint of coffee, some hops. Taste light to moderately roasted malts, alcohol, slightly sweet, a hint of bitter, raisin, plums. Medium to full body, medium carbonation.

UPDATED: NOV 7, 2012 Bottle shared by Hiero816pack. Pours black brown with a tan head. Aroma has chocolate malt yeast and bitterness and solid roasted malt as well. Taste is more the same with a nice chocolate roasted malt and coffee and subtle yeast character. Palate is full and creamy with a drying finish. Enjoyable, but I enjoy them separate!

Received in a trade but I forget who was awesome enough to send me this bottle. I’ll update if I remember. Either way, thanks alot! This bottle was shared with AndyReynolds and Ewestern.
I had read many mixed reviews before acquiring this bottle, so I wasn’t too sure what to expect going into it. However, it took nothing more than the first sip to shatter the idea of any negativity surrounding this brew. Pretty much straight up awesome in every aspect. The combination of the four base stouts really lends to a unique complexity. I know it doesn’t contain any Kate the Great, but as I drank my glass, that’s what it really reminded me of. It seemed to have a lot of that chocolate graham cracker and roasted malt quality that I remember from my KtG sample a few years ago.

I fell victim to the hype and love this beer.
