22, I believe swingtop growler. Thanks...J? I think? Pours an opaque matte mahogany with a dense and creamy pale tan head that settles fizzily away. Bright tangy cherry nose, almost a lacto note, on top of some dry baking chocolate. Would not have guessed the base beer was a porter based on the nose. Creamy thickish body with tight moderate carb. Cherries and baking chocolate and a bit of vanilla on the mid palate. Long sweet finish. Nicely done. tderoeck (10002) - Gent, BELGIUM - AUG 19, 2015

Clear purplish brown beer, creamy irregular beige head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: very sweet, lots of bourbon, vanilla, alcohol, crème brulée, bit of cocoa powder, more vanilla. MF: lots of carbon, medium body. Taste: sourish start, bit lemony, quite some cherries, bit malty, caramel, vanilla. Aftertaste: little sourish, cherries, bitter hops, vanilla, some caramel.
75cl bottle courtesy of and shared with Omgrich. Bottle# 188/396, anno 2013.
77ships (10455) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - JUL 26, 2015
Thanks to omgrich for sharing this one! 750 ml. bottle split by four as “Barrel Aged Alpha Klaus with Tart Cherries”. 2013 Vintage. Bottle number 188/396. Black, solid mocha. Nose carries surprisingly huge tart cherries, very upfront, lightly puckering with big bourbon sweet sugar, licorice, chocolate,… Taste is huge tart cherries, huge on them with some oak, vanilla, bourbon is in the back, quite warming, strong alcohol, licorice, oak, warming, spices,… A touch thin but more than solid enough. Fascinating, really surprising how big the tart cherries are esp. considering the age of this one, almost don’t to the point of this being a bit unbalanced. Very interesting & good beer. rxeight (3183) - Illinois, USA - DEC 23, 2014
2013 bottle, 386/396. Aroma is barrel. Closer to rubbing alcohol. Taste is barrel heavy, some tart cherry and chocolate on the finish.

Bottle: 37/400. Deep brown. Very deep, almost black really with a thin head & bubbly collar that’s somewhere between khaki & tan in color. Aroma of cherry juice blended with sugary caramel candy. Burnt molasses, mild charred wood, spicy oak, light bourbon heat, & dense brown sugar. Taste starts with bourbon, wood, & unattenuated caramel malt sugars out of the gate... Lots of toffee as it flows into a semi-sweet cherry juice profile. Slightly tart, mostly sweet. It starts a little chalky & medicinal, but as the glass warms up, it gets much better. Slightly tannic cherry skin & woody finish with a bourbon heat that sneaks up on you in the aftertaste. Lots of molasses, caramel, toffee, too... Sticky body. Would have initially given this a 2.9 or 3.0 maybe but the latter half of the glass was quite nice. I suggest serving this one warmer from the start. 750 ml bottle. Rating from notes. Pours a near blackish brown with a small beige head. Aroma is chocolate and roast heavy with modest cherry component, somewhat maraschino but otherwise fruity. Some salt and barrel notes, old wood, bourbon and vanilla. Booze is there, but restrained and even perhaps polite. Flavor is rich, roasty with mild soft sweet cherries. Medium bodied, some prickly carbonation. Finishes somewhat boozy. daknole (11049) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - OCT 7, 2013

Opaque black - brown beer, good tan head. Nose of mild wood. Palate is smooth with mild fine carbonation. Mild wood and mild bourbon, vanilla and coconut. Mellow bourbon spice. The cherry is pretty subtle. Finishes semi dry with a little alcohol warmth.
Big thanks to Randy and JR for breaking this out. While the cherries were pretty subtle, both in the flavor and aroma, the barrel qualities weren’t. Big woody notes and hints of bourbon. Opened right before the BA Plum.
