Dark amber-brown color, small off-white head. Caramel, citrusy hops, bread and white pepper in the nose, also some fruity notes. Sweetish toffee, caramelly brew with bready and hoppy flavors, Alcohol rises in the finish. A bit liquerish palate. Heavy stuff. Not really very complex, but good sipping beer. jtclockwork (17604) - , New Jersey, USA - SEP 27, 2010
Bottle from a generous trader. 2009 vintage. Pours clear brown. Nose and taste of molasses, brown sugar, light bourbon, caramel malts and spiced citrus. yngwie (17284) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - DEC 28, 2009
Bottle, 22oz. It’s an almost clear, golden beer with an off-white head. Resiny, grapefruity nose with malts in the background. Fluorine, beefstock and some roasted hints as well. Pretty much the same in the mouth, but slighlty more pronounced, and with a wonderful bitterness. Bitter, sweet and malty finish. Full-bodied and slighlty warming. A really lovely beer, maybe a tad on the sweet side though. 090828 brokensail (16689) - Dublin, California, USA - MAR 31, 2013
2012 vintage (red wax). Copper pour with an off-white head. Sweet caramel, brown sugar, and dark fruits. Nice hoppy aroma of grapefruit, flowers, and pineapple. A fair amount of booze, however. Very nice sweetness and bright hop flavors. Grapefruit, pineapple, and oranges to go with light pine and floral notes. Sweet caramel, brown sugar, and dark fruits. A hint of alcohol on the finish.

Bottle at Petrol Stations bottle share. Pours a cloudy amber with small off white head leaving spotty lacing along the glass. The aroma is a caramel malt and raisin. Medium mouthfeel with a Sweet hop and caramel with nice Smooth finish. A very good Barleywine from Three Floyds. Scopey (16223) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUN 10, 2012
Tap at CBC, May 2012. It pours orange-amber, with a thick off-white head. The nose is spice, honey, hot cross bun, sweet fruit, grass and pine. The taste is wood, leather, lemon pith, varnish, grass, resin, golden syrup, booze, spice, grass and hot cross buns, with a long, warming-bitter finish. Full body and moderate carbonation. Overall a good hoppy barley wine, which I think I would prefer with a few years on it. MiP (16054) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - DEC 20, 2005
UPDATED: FEB 25, 2007 Bottle. Very strong fresh, spicy hop aroma. Hazy red/brown colour, nice stable light brown head. Flavour is very nice, powerful with some teaishness from the hops. High bitterness, along with the alcohol burning my throat a bit. bhensonb (15958) - Woodland, California, USA - SEP 27, 2009
2009 bomber from Archer Liquors. Pours lightly hazy amber with a four finger beige/tan head. Aroma seems pine over sweet malt. Medium body with medium carbonation. Malt is strong. Hop bitter is citrus? Heat is minimal, given the abv. Head does some lacing. Might be a bit toffee towards the end. Pretty well balanced finish. Bitter and sweet all at once. Pretty impressive.
